This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

The Engineer - Production III supports high-rate production operations across Blue Origin programs by driving tactical schedule execution, improving production rate capability, and enabling scalable material flow solutions. This role is responsible for ensuring production readiness through schedule adherence, shortage visibility, and kitting optimization, while leading Production Control (PC) functions and coordinating across Production Scheduling (PS), Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).

Key Responsibilities
Production Execution & Schedule Adherence
* Develop and manage detailed tactical production schedules aligned with program milestones and rate targets
* Drive daily/weekly schedule adherence through constraint management, escalation, and recovery planning
* Partner with manufacturing and IPTs to ensure executable plans and on-time delivery
Rate Readiness & Process Improvement
* Lead initiatives to improve production rate capability and throughput
* Identify and eliminate bottlenecks through data-driven analysis and continuous improvement methods
* Support transition from development to high-rate production environments
Shortage Management & Automation
* Establish and maintain automated shortage reporting tools to improve visibility and response time
* Proactively communicate material risks and coordinate mitigation plans with supply chain and MRP teams
* Drive accountability for shortage resolution across stakeholders
Kitting & Material Flow Optimization
* Develop scalable kitting solutions to support large-scale, high-rate production
* Optimize point-of-use delivery, staging strategies, and material presentation to the factory floor
* Ensure material availability aligns with takt time and production sequencing
Production Control (PC) Team Leadership
* Provide leadership and direction to the PC team, ensuring execution of daily priorities
* Oversee integration across PC, PS, and MRP functions to maintain alignment between plan and execution
* Support IPTs with clear communication of production status, risks, and recovery actions
Cross-Functional Integration
* Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering teams within IPT structures
* Drive alignment between program goals, production plans, and material readiness
* Support program reviews with data-driven insights on schedule performance and constraints

Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related technical field
* 5+ years of experience in production engineering, manufacturing operations, or production control
* Experience with production scheduling, MRP/ERP systems, and factory operations
* Demonstrated ability to operate in fast-paced, high-ownership environments

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in aerospace, defense, or spaceflight production environments
* Background in scaling production from low-rate to high-rate manufacturing
* Strong experience with data analysis and automation tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, or similar)
* Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, takt-based production, and material flow optimization
* Proven leadership experience within cross-functional or IPT-based organizations

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
