NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Lead Editor, Brand Advertising & Production, based in our Charlotte, North Carolina office. The Lead Editor, Brand Advertising & Production, is responsible for editing polished, broadcast-quality creative across NASCAR's brand advertising, campaign, and specialty projects. This role serves as the primary editorial lead for brand commercials, sizzles, and high-impact creative deliverables while supporting both field and post-production workflows. The Lead Editor ensures NASCAR's brand tone, pacing, and creative intent are executed consistently across all deliverables. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Serve as the primary editor for brand commercials, sizzles, specialty projects, and other key creative deliverables.
- Edit, refine, and assemble footage into polished, broadcast-quality content that aligns with NASCAR's brand tone, pacing, and creative intent.
- Collaborate closely with leadership on creative approach, editorial style, music, pacing, and overall execution.
- Lead the editorial process through multiple rounds of reviews, interpreting creative direction and feedback to refine cuts into clear, cohesive, and aligned final pieces.
- Partner with leadership and creative stakeholders throughout the review cycle, ensuring all edits uphold internal brand standards, pacing, tone, and overall creative intent.
- Provide input on shot-list planning and at-track capture needs based on ongoing editorial requirements.
- Help assess, vet, and manage freelance editors, finish partners, and specialty post-production vendors as needed.
- Oversee asset organization, version control, project resources, and naming conventions to ensure clean and efficient workflows.
- Serve as a point of contact for external agencies, vendors, and partners for footage ingestion, content delivery, and asset transfer.
- Maintain and manage the brand footage library by organizing clips, pulling selects, and cultivating weekly highlights from art cameras, broadcast melts, and supplemental sources.
- Coordinate with Operations, Production, and Creative partners to ensure all assets and deliverables meet technical, format, and brand standards.
- Attend select tentpole events, serving as media manager to support efficient ingest, organization, and handoff of captured footage.
- Communicate with field producers and crew to ensure captured content supports editorial requirements.
- Provide clear field notes and direction to maintain alignment between capture and edit.
- Oversee quality control of editorial deliverables prior to post-production finishing or external distribution.
- Manage on-site media: organize, label, back up, and deliver footage and field notes to the finish team, freelance editors, and agency partners to ensure clean handoff and fast turnaround.
- Deliver polished, approved rough cuts to finish partners and coordinate all materials required for color, mix, graphics, and final mastering sessions.
- Organize, prepare, and deliver master files for broadcast traffic and ensure all finished assets are properly archived and added to the existing commercial library.
- Upload and manage commercial inventory within Extreme Reach, ensuring all masters meet broadcast specifications and are delivered accurately and on deadline.
- Organize, track, and manage production assets, ensuring accurate documentation, delivery, and archival practices.
- Support department-wide production and post-production workflow improvements
- Travel: Up to 10%, including select weekends for tentpole or priority events.
Required skills/experience:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or technical school
- Five (5) years of Post-Production experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient with company-provided hardware and software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Expert-level proficiency with industry-standard post-production tools such as Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, Red Giant Software, and Frame.io.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Davinci Color knowledge is preferred.
- Familiarity with media asset management (MAM) systems and shared storage workflows is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation, continuity etc. in storytelling.
- Familiarity with special effects, 3D, and compositing.
- Creative mind and storytelling skills.
- Able to work a flexible work schedule as needed, including outside of normal business hours, in order to meet tight deadlines.
