Position Description






Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The Assistant Director of Fieldwork and Accreditation provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and supervisory direction for fieldwork, student teaching, university supervision, and credentialing processes across Benerd College programs.
Reporting to the Director of Field Experience, this position supports candidates from admission through credential recommendation, supervises and develops University Supervisors and mentor teachers, strengthens district partnerships, and ensures a rigorous, equitable, and student-centered fieldwork experience across undergraduate, credential program, and graduate programs.

1. Fieldwork & Clinical Placement Leadership

  • Supports strategic oversight of fieldwork, student teaching, internship, and clinical placement processes across credential programs.
  • Partner with the Director of Field Experience to establish, evaluate, and refine placement systems, mentor selection criteria, and supervision models.
  • Ensure placements meet program, credential, and accreditation standards.
  • Anticipate placement shortages or risks and implement proactive solutions to support uninterrupted candidate progression.


2. Supervision Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Provide leadership, training, and evaluation for University Supervisors to ensure consistency, rigor, and alignment with Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs).
  • Develop and deliver supervisor and mentor teacher training sessions.
  • Monitor supervision practices, documentation, and evaluation quality, including observation tools and platforms such as Sibme.
  • Review candidate progress reports and evaluation data to ensure compliance and program quality.
  • Approve supervisor assignments, monitor workload distribution, and review/approve supervisor time reporting.

3. Direct Supervision & Candidate Support (As Needed)

  • Conduct virtual classroom observations for candidates
  • Facilitate triad meetings with candidates and mentor teachers for midterm and final evaluations.
  • Provide formative and summative feedback aligned to California TPEs.
  • Escalate significant performance or professionalism concerns to program leadership.

4. Credentialing Oversight & Compliance

  • Oversee credentialing workflows, including student teaching clearance, intern eligibility, and preliminary credential recommendation.
  • Interpret and apply California CTC requirements and university policies accurately and consistently.
  • Review credential audits to confirm eligibility and compliance prior to recommendation.
  • Support the Director of Fieldwork as an expert on credentialing requirements for faculty, supervisors, candidates, and district partners.

5. Academic Progress Monitoring & Risk Management

  • Support systematic audits of academic progress, grade requirements, and fieldwork readiness using DegreeWorks and related systems.
  • Help identify candidates at risk of not meeting credential or fieldwork benchmarks and coordinate intervention plans.
  • Ensure documentation and performance evidence meet CTC and accreditation requirements.

6. Records Management, Systems, & Data Integrity

  • Provide oversight of credentialing and fieldwork record systems, including Banner, OnBase, DegreeWorks, Argos, and related tools.
  • Maintain data integrity across student master lists, placement records, supervision documentation, and credential repositories.
  • Support accreditation reporting, assessment data collection, and continuous improvement initiatives.

7. CTC Accreditation & Regulatory Compliance

  • Serve as a lead contributor for California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) accreditation activities, including preparation of accreditation reports, data collection, documentation review, and evidence alignment.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and ensure fieldwork, supervision, and credentialing practices align with current CTC standards and program standards.
  • Collaborate with program leadership in accreditation site visit preparation, audit response, and continuous improvement planning.
  • Monitor regulatory updates from the CTC and implement necessary programmatic or procedural adjustments to maintain compliance.
  • Support ongoing assessment cycles, candidate outcome tracking, and documentation required for state and institutional accreditation reviews.
  • Responsible for oversight of faculty in developing an assessment plan, and for gathering necessary data related to teacher education.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure teacher education programs are meeting required standards.


8. Leadership, Process Improvement, & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead continuous improvement of fieldwork and supervision systems to increase efficiency, strengthen candidate support, and reduce compliance risk.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, timelines, and documentation protocols.
  • Collaborate with HIVE managers, faculty, Student Services, and program leadership to ensure seamless transitions between coursework, advising, fieldwork, and credentialing milestones.
  • Provide leadership insight and recommendations to strengthen inclusive, equity-centered clinical practice.

9. Teaching
  • University Supervisor for 50 students over Fall and Spring semester.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Valid California teaching credential (Education Specialist and/or Multiple Subject preferred); administrative credential desirable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful P-12 teaching experience and at least three (3) years of experience in supervision, fieldwork coordination, or credentialing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of California TPEs, TPAs, and CTC credentialing standard.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Education or related field.
  • Experience supervising or managing professional staff.
  • Experience with accreditation, compliance reporting, and program assessment.
  • Experience with university systems such as Banner, Argos, OnBase, Salesforce, DegreeWorks, and supervision platforms.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex credentialing and policy requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage high-stakes deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, school partners, and university leadership.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Hiring Range $68,000 - $75.000 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
Special Instructions
This is an in-person role, and the successful candidate must be willing to relocate within California, preferably within 25 miles of the Stockton Pacific campus.
