Department Summary Originally launched in 2016 as The Institute for Patient Safety, the center was created as a collaborative effort among key regional healthcare partners to address preventable harm and improve patient outcomes across Texas. Funded by the Texas Legislature, the institute was established with four key purposes that continue to guide its work today: -Develop educational programs and student training focused on patient safety. -Host an annual Patient Safety Summit to convene experts, share best practices and promote statewide collaboration. -Provide seed grant funding to support innovative, small-scale patient safety projects. -Advance research, mentorship and a growing network of patient safety fellows committed to improving care delivery. Position Overview The Clinical Administrator of The Texas Center for Patient Safety (TXCPS) is a high level position within the TXCPS for individuals with substantial expertise and experience in their field related to patient safety. The Clinical Administrator serves as an expert topical thought leader and participates in strategic planning for TXCPS. The Clinical Administrator develops, leads, and provides educational services consistent with the TXCPS strategy and their area of expertise. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in a healthcare related field, five (5) years of clinical experience, including two (2) years of leadership experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives from conception to evaluation, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and timelines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills: able to engage effectively with individuals at all organizational levels. Ability to build and sustain effective partnerships and networks across clinical, academic, and community settings to advance the mission of Safer Care Texas. Knowledge of organizational leadership and management principles, including strategic planning, team development, and performance management. Knowledge of healthcare systems and operations with strong understanding of how clinical, administrative, and academic functions interact within a complex organization. Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills: capable of analyzing complex issues, anticipating challenges, and developing creative, evidence-informed solutions. Skilled in managing multiple priorities, coordinating resources, and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment. Ability to lead and inspire others, cultivating a positive, mission-driven culture and encouraging professional growth and innovation. Preferred Qualifications Clinical health degree and master's degree. Five (5) years of clinical experience required. Three (3), years leadership experience. Job Duties To be added by department. Develop and lead lectures and presentations on healthcare patient safety and quality topics for an audience consisting on community members, university students, and healthcare professionals. Serve as trainer for programs such as CPI De-escalation, QPR Gatekeepers, Stop the Bleep tourniquet training, Hands only CPR, Narcan administration, and others. Provide technical and professional support to Patient Safety Organization members. Provide expertise in developing content for community and professional resources, continuing education offerings, and online/print materials. Represent the organization at professional conferences and participate on internal and external committees to enhance the reputation of UNT Health and TXCPS.
