Organizational Unit Overview
The Division of Infectious Diseases provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, management, and treatment for adult patients with suspected infectious diseases. Additionally, the International Traveler's Clinic provides travel advice and immunizations for those individuals traveling overseas. Inpatient and outpatient consultations are available for a wide variety of illnesses including but not limited to HIV/ AIDS, postsurgical infectious, skin and soft tissue infections, infections in cancer patients, bone and joint infections, pneumonia, sepsis, emerging infections, and fever of unknown origin. To provide comprehensive HIV case management services with compassion and care to people living with HIV/ AIDS ( PLWHA) and according to guidelines established by the North Carolina AIDS Care Unit. Brody School of Medicine HIV Program ( BSOMHIVP) defines MCM as a range of client-centered services that are designed to enhance access to and retention in medical care for PLWHA.
Job Duties
The Social Work Practitioner will provide and assist with overseeing professional social work services to patients in a variety of settings including the ID clinic, local human service agencies, the patient's home, and possibly other locations.
CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.
Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program ( ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b, 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System ( TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Disability.

While this position is not automatically eligible for the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS), new hires transferring from another North Carolina state agency and current ECU employees transferring internally who had been enrolled in TSERS in their previous employment will continue participation in TSERS. These individuals may be able to elect to participate in ORP if they had not been offered that option at the time of their initial enrollment into TSERS.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in a Human Services discipline with coursework related to the area of assignment. Some positions may require certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Three years' experience to include case management, client assessments and referrals, and psycho-social support and counseling. Experience with HIV+ clients and clients with other infectious diseases are highly desirable. A working knowledge of the Ryan White program is preferred.
