Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager-Materials Management.
In this role, the successful candidate manages all aspects of procurement and materials management for the Perlmutter Cancer Center. This includes establishing and maintaining policies and procedures for the procurement of materials and supplies and the rental of equipment, ensuring that optimum value is obtained and that materials are stocked adequately and properly, that efficient records are kept of orders, receipts, inventories, and that back-up data for invoicing purposes is readily and fully available. Establishes an efficient working relationship with the Perlmutter Cancer Center and Hospital staff. Reacts efficiently to all emergency requests with minimal disruption to daily activities. These services further the vision of Perlmutter Cancer Center, which is dedicated to helping cancer patients live longer and better lives by developing and managing leading cancer programs in coordination with physicians and hospitals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manages the purchasing of all materials, supplies, and rented equipment at the optimum value available. Obtains quotations, evaluates vendor performance as appropriate. Ensures that proper authorization is obtained through a purchasing request prior to placement of an order and that purchase orders are completed accurately in the Peoplesoft materials system with proper accounting codes. Additionally, ensures that purchase orders are filled expeditiously. Supervises all staff in this area and assists with staff coverage as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Attends NYU management meetings as necessary. Ensures the Perlmutter Cancer Center is compliant with all government and JCAHO regulations as they relate to materials management.
- Manages the maintenance of all Omni-cell units throughout the Perlmutter Cancer Center (approximately 20). Ensures that these Omni-cells are adequately stocked so as not to interrupt patient care. Reviews various Omni-cell reports on a timely basis for trends, to ensure that they system is performing efficiently and that adequate internal controls are being maintained to safeguard assets.
- Manages the unpacking and storage of all goods received at the center. Ensures that storage areas are properly designed, labeled and maintained in a neat and orderly fashion. Oversees physical inventory counts of all storage areas as necessary. Ensures that goods are properly issued out to departments and accounted for properly in the Peoplesoft materials system, including obtaining proper authorization for the issuance of such goods with correct accounting codes. Oversees the transport and delivery of supplies throughout the building. Ensures that proper internal controls are maintained at all storage locations within the Perlmutter Cancer Center to make sure assets are safeguarded. Supervises all staff in this area and assists with staff coverage as necessary.
- Manages the receipt of all goods for the Perlmutter Cancer Center. Ensures that goods are properly counted and received into the Peoplesoft materials system in a timely manner and that proper internal controls are maintained at all times. Ensures that adequate records are maintained to support goods receipt. Supervises all staff in this area and assists with staff coverage as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a complies with regulatory requirements (i.e. JCAHO) appropriate for position.Bachelors degree preferred in business administration, materials management, or purchasing emphasis preferred.Five years experience in a healthcare environment.Strong managerial and supervisory skills with an emphasis on managing within a unionized environment.Demonstrated ability to control expenses.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $84,577.92 - $105,000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
