Under supervision, the Research Associate/Technician will research support in a laboratory specializing in isolation of human liver cells. Responsible for ordering supplies and specialized lab equipment, and ensuring proper operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, as well as negotiate and initiate maintenance contracts and repairs. Serves as the laboratory safety officer of the human liver cell isolation lab to ensure safe work practices as dictated by EH&S guidelines, including handling of chemical and biohazardous, materials. Manages a large and complex mouse colony inventory, and coordinates the transfer of specialized mouse strains to other UCSD and outside investigators (domestic and internationally). Provide technical assistances to the transgenic mouse experiments and may make innovative contributions to transgenic mouse experiments as they gain experience in the role. Assists in the writing and preparation of scientific manuscripts, Animal Subjects Protocols, Biohazardous Use Authorizations, and Material Transfer Agreements. Provides direction and trains other lab personnel in laboratory techniques. Other duties assigned as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $65,208 - $104,901 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $31.23 - $50.24 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
