Overview There's never been a better time to join the shipbuilding industry. As demand for cutting edge naval technology grows, General Dynamics Electric Boat is at the forefront - designing, building, and maintaining the most advanced submarines in the world. Our work is mission-critical, supporting the U.S. Navy and strengthening national security. About Department 422 Integrated Logistics Support The Department 422 Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) organization supports all non-nuclear Electric Boat submarine programs for the COLUMBIA Class and VIRGINIA Class. The six discipline groups that provide support include: Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH) groups comprised of System Safety and Software Safety, Obsolescence Management Team (OMT), Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM), Ship Specification Development, Stowages, and Systems Integration. Role Overview D422 Obsolescence Management Team is looking for a motivated individual to support the execution of the obsolescence management plan for the VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Class submarines. The goal of obsolescence management is to actively manage and mitigate contractor furnished equipment obsolescence while maintaining construction cost and schedule, as well as to support the lifecycle sustainment of contractor furnished equipment by working with the Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) Community. Obsolescence, as defined by the VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Class ship specifications, is when a part is no longer in production, not maintainable through sparing, or no longer commercially supported or available.
Key Responsibilities The individual selected for this position will be accountable for managing obsolescence on specific submarine systems assigned to them.
