Job Summary The Registered Nurse - PRN (Interventional Radiology) is responsible for delivering comprehensive, age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive nursing care within the Interventional Radiology (IR) setting. This role supports minimally invasive, image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures by providing expert pre-procedural, intra-procedural, and post-procedural patient care. The RN ensures a safe procedural environment, performs thorough patient assessments, monitors hemodynamic status, administers moderate sedation per protocol (if applicable), and collaborates closely with interventional radiologists and multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes. The nurse educates patients and families regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and post-procedural care while maintaining continuity of care across settings. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process-assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation-to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. Additional responsibilities include patient advocacy, education, quality improvement initiatives, leadership, and professional development. As a member of the healthcare team, the RN demonstrates advanced clinical judgment, procedural competency, and the ability to respond rapidly to changes in patient condition in a fast-paced procedural environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse Associate Degree in Nursing required Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience required Prior experience in Interventional Radiology, procedural nursing, critical care, or emergency services strongly preferred Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or required within designated timeframe (if applicable)
PRN REQUIREMENTS
PRN/Pool staff are required to work a minimum of four (4) 12-hour shifts per four-week schedule or four clinic (outpatient) shifts per four-week schedule.
Hours are based on departmental needs and are not guaranteed. Length of shifts may vary. PRN staff may sign up in advance based on the needs of their home unit or other units within the department. PRN staff may be called in to support staffing needs as they arise. Flexibility to float within the department is required to ensure safe staffing standards across units. PRN staff are considered first to float to maintain operational continuity and patient safety.
