Provides assistance to Volunteer Coordinator(s) responsible for High School Student Volunteer Program in order to ensure that the student volunteer program is well organized and professionally managed. Assists with planning and implementation of program, specifically in areas of onboarding, placement, orientation/training, and recognition activities. Works closely with student leaders and is responsible for social activities and group activities for volunteers during the year. Provides clerical assistance necessary for program's success.

Responsibilities
- 1. Provides assistance in organizational preparation for high school student volunteer program.
- 1.1. Prepares communication to Hospital departments regarding high school student volunteer program.
1.2. Prepares schedule of openings for student volunteers. 1.3. Provides communication to potential high school volunteers in collaboration with Volunteer Coordinators
- 2. Assists with screening process of high school student volunteers.
- 2.1. Interviews prospective volunteers.
2.2. Completes interview documentation in a timely manner. 2.3. Assures that all requirements are met by prospective volunteers, prior to placement
- 3. Assists with coordination of high school student volunteer scheduling process.
- 3.1. Clarifies volunteer requests from departments.
3.2. Prepares schedule based on requests. 3.3. Prepares communication of assignment confirmation for students in collaboration with Volunteer Coordinators. 3.4. Prepares departmental schedules and distributes to departments in a timely manner.
- 4. Assists with coordination of orientation/training programs.
- 4.1. Prepares schedule of departmental training programs.
4.2. Maintains attendance records of orientation/training. 4.3. Assures that students are trained prior to beginning assignment.
- 5. Assists with recognition activities and special events for high school student volunteers.
- 5.1. Assists staff in planning of recognition event and special events.
5.2. Is responsible for planning and implementing social activities and special events for high school student volunteers
- 6. Serves as resource to Student Leaders.
- 6.1. Attends student leader meetings.
6.2. Prepares student leader assignment schedule. 6.3. Assists student leaders in fulfilling their responsibilities
- 7. Provides clerical assistance in Volunteer Services Department.
- 7.1. Answers the telephone in a pleasant and courteous manner within three (3) rings, identifying department and self, providing accurate information, taking accurate messages or referring calls appropriately.
7.2. Greets and screens visitors in a pleasant, professionally courteous manner. 7.3. Provides assistance to clerical staff and coordinators as requested.
Qualifications
EDUCATION High school graduate required. College degree preferred. EXPERIENCE Applicants must have personal volunteer experience in some setting. Proven experience in program development and coordination, public speaking and presentations, leading training programs, project coordination. Prior experience working with volunteers preferred in a healthcare setting. SPECIAL SKILLS Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact professionally with Hospital staff. Competency in technology, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Volunteer management software Vsys is a plus.
