Position Summary

The Software Development Student Consultant is a project-based role that utilizes the consultant's specialized technical skill set, which may include, but is not limited to: web and application development, database management, cloud infrastructure, and general programming. He/she/they will support specific capstone and/or other work-based learning projects within the Software Development program. This is a project-based role, limited to the duration of a certain academic semester.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Serve as an as-needed technical resource for assigned student project team
  • Provide information and guidance to interested students about making the transition from the classroom to the workforce and/or direct these students to additional resources
  • Help students understand how to collaborate with local businesses in ways that not only gain the students valuable experience but benefit the businesses and their customers
  • Model professional behavior and engagement with others

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Professional work experience in software development or another similar technical field

Desired Qualifications :
  • Associates degree from McHenry County College or a bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a comparable discipline from a regionally accredited university
  • 1+ years of work experience in software development or other similar technical field
