JOB DESCRIPTION

The Expert Data Architect will design and implement scalable data solutions using the latest and advanced technology and toolsets. This role offers the right candidate the rare opportunity to leverage their extensive background in data modeling, database tuning, data repositories, and data pipeline creation to build and maintain a data management platform to support the organization's Data Governance program. The role will also be responsible for working closely with business partners and IT leadership to understand the organization's business requirements and work with the broader IT team to build a platform that will support the current needs and scale to accommodate future growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluates and leads the selection of new data management components, in partnership with IT and other key stakeholders, to integrate into the existing ecosystem including software, platforms, databases, ETL tools, data modeling tools, visualization and reporting tools, advanced analytics tools, data science platforms and tools, etc.
  • Partners with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, and AppDev teams on capabilities, technologies, vendors, roadmaps, and solutioning
  • Implements capabilities data ingestion, transformation, integration, curation, publishing, analysis and visualization of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
  • Provide architectural oversight for cloud-native data platforms supporting analytics and reporting, ensuring performance, security, and scalability.
  • Review and get approval for solution designs, identifying risks, gaps, and architectural trade-offs while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Defines, develops and institutes robust, quality processes to implement data changes and database modifications
  • Functions as architect in SAFe Agile scrum teams working on data projects and products
  • Facilitates and supports feasibility studies, proof of concepts, pilot projects and testing
  • Oversees the design of data solutions by 3rd party vendors when appropriate, in partnership with AppDev teams
  • Participate in architecture governance forums, contributing to reviews, approvals, and continuous improvement of architectural practices.
  • Mentor and guide data architects and engineers, fostering architectural excellence and capability growth within the team.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience in leading the development and delivery of data warehouse, data management, Big Data, and data integration solutions.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in designing and building end-to-end data processing platforms using known technologies and cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure, including cloud-native data architecture patterns, multi cloud or hybrid cloud architecture experience.
  • Expertise in gathering requirements from business users / stakeholders and effectively translating them into robust data solutions, ability to communicate complex architectural concepts effectively.
  • Knowledgeable about the current landscape of data warehouse and data lake solutions. Able to evaluate competing data solutions and select the best option for data ingestion, storage, reporting, visualization, analytics, microservices, and API's given the current and future needs of the organization.
  • Strong expertise in modern data platforms and tools, including Snowflake, Matillion, Power BI, and other industry-leading data and analytics technologies.
  • Experience working with vendors to manage the delivery of data solutions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric or similar unified analytics platforms is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, data quality, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, Able to communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and executive stakeholders.

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
