The US Oncology Network is looking for a Director, Strategic Programs and Operations to join our team at Texas Oncology! This position will support the Surgical Services Team.

What is the Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP)?

Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP): is an incentive program that typically vests over a three-year period and is tied to both individual performance and the operational success of Texas Oncology. Awards are discretionary and based on your position, performance, and potential for future career growth at Texas Oncology. Awards are reviewed and approved during the annual compensation review. LTIP awards are subject to your continued employment through the award payment date, and are governed by the written terms and conditions of the LTIP document.

What does the Practice Director do?

This role is the strategic operator for Surgical Services- supports aligning long-range strategy across interdependent initiatives (programs), leading end-to-end project delivery, and providing executive operations support to the VP, Surgery & Surgical Executive Directors. The position orchestrates cross-functional execution (clinical operations, physician enterprise, etc), ensures benefits realization across the surgery portfolio, and supports integration outcomes.


Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Strategy Alignment

  • Translate Surgical Services strategy into a multi-year program roadmap (capacity growth, service-line expansion, access and patient-experience initiatives), ensuring projects align to strategic goals and deliver cumulative benefits.
  • Define program controls (governance, cadence, standards, reporting, risk and benefits management) and coordinate interdependencies across projects and subprograms.
  • Track outcome metrics (quality, access, margin, throughput) and course-correct to sustain strategic value.

Project Delivery & Execution

  • Own the full project lifecycle (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, closing) for high-stakes initiatives (e.g. EMR Integrations).
  • Establish schedules, proformas, resource plans, risk registers, and KPI dashboards; lead project meetings and issue escalation to keep milestones on track.
  • Apply best-practice PM methods (RACI, change control, lessons learned) to avoid ambiguity and accelerate decisions.

Operations & Strategic Alignment

  • Streamline workflows and convert strategy to execution through structured follow-through.
  • Synthesize performance and program updates for senior leaders, physicians, and external constituents.
  • Support projects surrounding surgical growth initiatives; including integration programs.
  • Service-Line Planning
  • Support service-line planning (market analysis, capacity and throughput modeling, competitor and referral dynamics, margin improvement opportunities) and connect these plans to annual operating targets.
  • Standardize planning methods and KPIs across the service line (volume, cost, margin, utilization; access and quality metrics), enabling year-round insight and data-driven decisions.
  • Prioritize service-line investments with business cases (clinical scope, revenue/cost goals, physician expertise needs, differentiation, accreditations).

Performance Reporting & Communication

  • Publish dashboards for Surgical Services (access, case volume, OR utilization, cancellations, physician ramp-up metrics, financials), with narrative and action plans.
  • Ensure ongoing communications to the current and executed projects in the surgical space. Allowing for the larger organization to stay up to date and supported.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the position will have the following background and experience:

  • 5+ years combined experience across program/project management and operations; healthcare experience required.
  • Demonstrated success aligning interdependent projects to strategic goals and delivering measurable benefits at service-line or enterprise scale.
  • PMP and/or PgMP (or equivalent) preferred; Lean/Six Sigma a plus.

Competencies:

  • Strategic systems thinking with the ability to connect clinical operations to financial and patient-experience outcomes.
  • Delivery excellence (scope, schedule, budget, risk, stakeholder engagement) across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Executive presence & influence; capable of driving alignment across stakeholders.
  • Change leadership and structured communications that move decisions forward and sustain adoption.
  • Rigor in governance (RACI, stage gates, metrics) and data-driven decision-making.
