Job Requirements

We are seeing 2-3 Software Engineers to support a focused vulnerability remediation surgeeffort for a mission critical federal system. This short-term 2-3 month engagement aimed atrapidly reducing high and critical security findings to support an accelerated ATO renewaltimeline.

This role centered on package upgrades, dependency remediation, patching, and distributedmicroservice updates. Engineers will work hands-on across Java (Spring Boot), Ember.js,OS-level components, and repository maintenance to implement security fixes quickly andefficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Java (Spring Boot) version upgrades and dependency remediation acrossmultiple services.
  • Update and remediate vulnerabilities in Ember.js front-end applications.
  • Execute OS-level patching and package updates in coordination with DevOps andinfrastructure teams.
  • Conduct large-scale repository maintenance, updating dependencies and pushingchanges across ~100 microservice repositories.
  • Identify, analyze, and remediate vulnerabilities identified through security scans.
  • Work across distributed microservices to ensure compatibility and stability afterupgrades.
  • Validate changes through testing and support deployment of remediated services.
  • Collaborate with security and DevOps teams to meet accelerated remediation targets.
  • Maintain documentation of changes and remediation activities for compliancetracking.


Work Experience

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • MUST have active or previous approved public trust clearance, preferably issued fromGSA
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot) and dependency management(Maven/Gradle).
  • Experience updating or maintaining Ember.js or similar front-end frameworks.
  • Experience working in microservices architectures.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability remediation processes, including dependency upgradesand patch management.
  • Experience performing package upgrades across distributed repositories.
  • Comfort working in execution-focused, fast-paced environments with defineddeadlines.
  • Proficiency with Git and repository workflows (branching, pull requests, versionupdates).

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to Python or Go services.
  • Relational Database Service experience (preferrably Postgres)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Experience working in compliance-driven or federal environments.
  • Familiarity with automated vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Snyk, Veracode,Dependabot, etc.).
  • Experience supporting ATO or security-driven remediation initiatives.
