Essential Job Duties
The Associate Director is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track staff ( EPS) position. As a key member of the Academic Success Center ( ASC) team, the Associate Director has responsibility for assisting the Director by taking an active role in all major functions of the ASC, including teaching, training, planning, assessing, and promoting its programs.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Administration (30%)

  • Independent administrative oversight of the Supplemental Instruction (SI) and Academic Peer Mentoring programs, including hiring, scheduling, and providing training for all SI Leaders, SI Peer Supervisors, and Academic Peer Mentors
  • Maintain communication with faculty regarding the SI program's mission
  • Provide leadership for maintaining the unit's website and communication channels
  • Lead the efforts for the recruiting and hiring of new ASC tutors
  • Work with the Director and the rest of the ASC team to formulate and implement ASC policies and procedures.


Assessment (25%)

  • Assess tutoring results by maintaining data entry and collection procedures, analyzing and reporting data to various groups on a regular basis
  • Serve as primary contact between the unit and the DASA Assessment office, ensuring completion of the unit's assessment plan

Teaching (20%)

  • Teach one-credit tutor-training course each semester
  • Teach one-credit training course for new academic peer mentors

Supervision (15%)

  • Supervise 2 professional staff members
    • Support the Coordinator in oversight of the Group and Drop-in Tutoring programs

  • Supervise student staff and peer supervisors who work in both the SI and Academic Peer Mentoring programs

Programming (10%)

  • Facilitate workshops, classroom visits, and other resources to promote services to campus partners and students
  • Represent the unit to outside constituents at the Director's request

Other Responsibilities

  • Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.


Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a relevant post-Baccalaureate degree with a minimum of three (3) years or greater of related professional experience.
Other Required Qualifications

  • Extensive undergraduate coursework in the physical and mathematical sciences.
  • Demonstrated experience in tutor training and/or assessing academic support programs.
  • Experience with web design and/or programming.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in mathematics education, science education, instructional administration, student development or related field.
  • Teaching and/or administrative experience at the college level.
