Salary: The budgeted salary range for the position is $33,000 to $40,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.

Position Summary
This PART-TIME 60% FTE position will work as a research associate I on projects devoted to improving maternal health in Illinois. This position assists the Program Director and Principal Investigator with research program management, communication efforts, data collection, data management, research compliance information, and reporting requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform surveys, interviews, observations or uses other methods according to established research protocols.
  • Prepare data for analysis and execute details of studies. Perform analysis and document results.
  • May conduct literature searches.
  • Order study supplies and maintain inventories.
  • Maintain detailed records of results and prepare written reports.
  • Maintain and process required paperwork.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES
  • Provides data collection assistance and participant recruitment for research projects.
  • Coordinates research staff, partners, and collaborators on projects, disseminates timely information from the projects to staff, partners, and collaborators directly related to the research project progress and findings.
  • Develops and maintains research records, track community activities, and compile list of resources for community members.
  • Adheres to research project aims to achieve sponsor objectives.
  • Assist with the design and management survey tools using REDCap, ensuring standardized data collection and adherence to Institutional Review Board (IRB) and privacy requirements across study sites.
  • Oversee the dissemination of research/project findings which includes the following:
  • a. Coordinates study content and disseminate across staff, partners, collaborators and community members (including social media).
  • c. Provide data for correspondence with the funding agency, including the submission of progress reports and updates on project reporting staff.
  • Assist with scientific reports and summarizing research findings for papers, presentations, and other documents including research publications.
  • Develops and maintains inventory of events, conferences, publications, and other resources for staff, partners, and collaborators for research study funder reporting requirements.
  • Identify and establish good working relationships with partner organizations, other university departments, and appropriate University personnel to achieve defined goals and objectives, and function as a liaison for the research team.
  • Performs other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned by supervisor/manager.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required.
    • Knowledge of fundamental research concepts, practices and procedures.
    • Entry level knowledge of research methods within community health, community-based research, or maternal health or substance use programming or service delivery.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • A minimum of one year's experience in community health, community-based research, or maternal health or substance use programming or service delivery.
    • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, team-oriented, and work closely with multiple stakeholders.
    • Possess analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
    • The successful candidate will be a self-directed, adaptive independent thinker with program-solving abilities and a high level of interpersonal skills and professionalism.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
