Senior Staff Accountant

Broad Description of Duties:

The Senior Accountant's primary responsibility is participating in the monthly close process and the production of monthly financial information. The primary responsibilities include performing account reconciliations, posting journal entries, and performing initial analysis of financial data before submission to Theatre's Accounting leadership. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skill and a high-degree of attention to detail. The right individual for this role must enjoy working in a fast paced and deadline oriented environment where accuracy is a must.

This position reports to the Director of Accounting.

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

• Analyze information to prepare and enter journal entries into the Financial System;
• Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts;
• Actively Participate in the period close process by performing reviews of financial statements and collaborating with accounting and non-accounting team members as needed;
• Prepare and/or Review Sales and Use Tax Returns;
• Provide accounting support to and collaborate with the theatre operations departments;
• Pursues efficiencies and process improvements;
• Exhibit resourcefulness and ability to solve problems independently
• Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures;
• Provide mentoring and coaching to staff
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Accounting

Job Requirements:

• Minimum three years of relevant experience in public accounting or private industry, with advanced level of experience preferred;
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial System a plus;
• Possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills;
• Possess strong analytical skills and comprehension and the ability to communicate the results of the analysis performed;
• Able to work both collaboratively with a team and in an individual environment;
• Willing and motivated to learn new skills, tasks, and software systems to meet the changing demands of the industry;
• Able to manage and complete multiple tasks;
• Must have the ability to work under pressure, while maintaining organization and attention to detail;
• Must have the ability to meet strict deadlines and work and perform tasks with minimum supervision;
• Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality

Education Required:

• Bachelor's (or advanced) Degree in Accounting;
• CPA, preferred but not required
