We are seeking a candidate with management skills to provide positive guidance and team building to our Sales and Production Associates in our Thrift Store; developing store strategies to optimize profitability, meeting sales goals by training, motivating, mentoring and providing feedback to store staff. We are looking for a results driven individual to be responsible for he overall store management. Excellent customer service is a must!

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Directs the activities of the thrift store to ensure maximum revenues, effectiveness, and profitability. Ensure maximum profitability through execution of short- and long-term strategies. Provide leadership, execute directives, and develop strategies to maximize people development. Ensure outstanding customer service throughout the thrift store operation by properly hiring and training a team of professionals at all levels. The stores must meet (within 5% +/-) or exceed monthly budget goals. Each Assistant Store Supervisor and Store Supervisor will be responsible for all daily activities in the store and report directly to the Regional Store Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Oversee the daily management of the Spokane Thrift Store - including scheduling, staff training, performance feedback, payroll review, and operational supervision, in collaboration with the Assistant Manager.
  • Partner with the Assistant Store Manager and Store Supervisor to hire, develop, train, and lead the store team.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining store Organization Chart with job responsibilities/assignments.
  • Visit assigned locations weekly to ensure store standards and customer service meets or exceeds company expectations.
  • Stay in regular contact with management team at each store.
  • Solve high-level problems and relay important TSA information.
  • Implement companywide initiatives involving product, merchandising, pricing strategies, promotions, and retail branding.
  • Team player with a spirit of cooperation and work with all others towards goals set by management.
  • Self-starter with ability to solve problems.
  • Enforce policies and training programs for the management teams to follow and implement with their own team of employees.
  • Communicate and enforce guidelines to prepare merchandise for sale.
  • Provide onsite leadership and operational oversight during periods of store manager absence to ensure continuity of business operations and team support.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and continuous training of new Store Managers to ensure high-quality leadership and operational excellence.
  • Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication.
  • Able to comprehend basic financial reports and Profit & Loss Statements.
  • Ability to work with the public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.
  • Customer service mindset.
  • Excellent leadership skills and general knowledge of business protocols.
  • Must complete and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements and guidelines
  • Ability to travel regularly to all sites within regional responsibly as needed.
  • A valid, in-state license and ability to pass The Salvation Army's in-house driving test and MVR check.
  • If employee owns his/her own vehicle, must possess current auto insurance for instances in which a personal vehicle is used on TSA time or business. Please note that TSA adheres to the federal standards regarding mileage reimbursement.


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of retail store management experience with demonstrated leadership in a sales and customer service focused environment or an equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cash controls, accounting, and Profit & Loss statements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
  • Ability to operate telephone
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer


  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer
  • Ability to understand written information

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a dynamic retail environment and may require movement between office spaces, the sales floor, and warehouse areas. Duties may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, dirt, and other typical warehouse elements. Occasional physical or environmental discomfort may occur when working in nonclimatecontrolled or highactivity areas.

Work Schedule / Location:

Work a standard Monday-Friday schedule during regular business hours, with flexibility to accommodate operational needs, including occasional weekend shifts and required travel.

Health Insurance: Low bi-weekly premiums ($34.62) for employee only coverage, Kaiser HMO for those residing in a Kaiser service area, Anthem EPO/PPO is available for those residing outside of a Kaiser service area. Voluntary +1 and +family coverage at additional cost. Delta Dental DHMO and DPPO dental insurance offered starting at $2.31 bi-weekly cost. Employees are covered by an employer paid life insurance policy. Voluntary supplemental life, short-term and long-term disability plans are available.

Retirement Plans: Employer-funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at 5 years eligible service time, employee funded voluntary 403(b) options

Parental Leave: Benefit will be one week (5 business days) of paid leave at the employee's normal rate of pay for births, adoptions and foster placements.

Sick Leave: 12 days annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after 3 months' service time.

Paid Vacation: 2 weeks annually accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions. 4 weeks annually accruing from day one, for exempt positions. Accrued vacation eligible for use after 6 months' service time.

Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
