$25 - $27 per hour

Location:
Long Island City, NY (Hybrid)

Position Overview

The Medical Leaves Specialist will be responsible for administering and coordinating employee medical leaves of absence while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies. This role requires strong knowledge of leave regulations, excellent communication skills, and fluency in Spanish to effectively support a diverse workforce. This is a temporary assignment with potential for extension based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and track employee leaves of absence including FMLA, short-term disability, paid family leave, and other medical-related absences

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding leave eligibility, documentation requirements, and return-to-work processes

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave regulations

  • Communicate with employees, managers, and third-party administrators regarding leave status and documentation

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee leave records within HRIS systems

  • Partner with HR, payroll, and management to ensure proper benefits and payroll coordination during leave periods

  • Provide bilingual (Spanish/English) support for employee inquiries

  • Prepare reports related to leave tracking and compliance

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in leave administration, HR operations, or benefits administration

  • Strong knowledge of FMLA and other leave laws required

  • Experience working with HRIS and payroll systems

  • Fluency in Spanish (written and verbal) required

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure.
