Your Job

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Platform Engineer to drive the design, development, and scaling of our cloud infrastructure, observability platforms, and DevOps platforms. As a senior platform engineer, you will play a critical role in defining best practices and ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), observability (Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus), and DevOps platforms (GitHub, ADO), along with a passion for building resilient and efficient platforms that empower engineering teams to accelerate delivery by following the Well-Architect Framework

Our Team

Our team manages Georgia Pacific's multi-cloud platforms, focusing on modernization, optimization, maintenance of cloud native workloads. We collaborate with engineers and leaders to address issues affecting team performance by implementing tools, processes, or products that streamline daily activities.

This role is based in the Atlanta Georgia-Pacific HQ. The expectation is usually three days in office per week.

What You Will Do

  • Design, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS and Azure)
  • Develop and enforce cloud architecture patterns to enhance scalability, cost efficiency, and security
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Define and implement best practices for high availability, disaster recovery, and incident management for the platform
  • Design and implement modular GitHub Action workflows and reusable composite actions to automate application build, test, and deployment processes
  • Build and maintain comprehensive observability solutions, including monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing systems
  • Work with teams to instrument applications and services for metrics, logs, and traces using tools like, Grafana, Loki, and OpenTelemetry
  • Experience configuring alerting to detect and resolve incidents quickly for critical applications

Who Are You (Basic Qualifications)

  • Proven experience administering a cloud platform (AWS, Azure), with an emphasis on enterprise governance, support, automation and development
  • Experience creating and maintaining infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code tool like Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK
  • Experience with GitHub Actions
  • Experience with observability tools, technology, and processes (i.e. Open Telemetry, Grafana)
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions
  • Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree in IT discipline
  • Amazon Web Services certification
  • Experience working with distributed global teams
  • Previous experience managing Kubernetes clusters on AWS using EKS
