Overview

The One Day Surgery Center / Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Supervisor maintains shift accountability for daily operations through leading and mentoring staff as delegated by the Manager. Serves as an expert resource to department staff and assists with personnel action, staff development, evaluation and counseling.

Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Manager, interviews and selects staff. Provides input and recommendations on clinical ladders, promotions/demotions, progressive discipline and staff participation in unit projects.
Assists Manager in appraisals of probation, annual and on-going performance appraisals for employees based on job descriptions and performance standards.
In conjunction with the Perioperative Educator, assures that orientees are provided with a preceptor to facilitate the completion of the orientation guidelines. Recommends staff development and identifies educational needs for all roles.
Supports the Manager in collecting information for accreditation surveys and departmental audits. Actively assists the Manager with implementation of the recommended changes.
Identifies daily staffing needs in accordance with budget and target guidelines. Proactively reviews future schedules (next day, three days, and one week in advance) to anticipate the need for staffing adjustments. Manage and monitor schedules for changes.
Manages the day-to-day operations of running the department, including practice standards, staffing and quality assurance.
Serves as a role model and resource.
Assist with yearly budgetary development.
Manage daily Kronos edits and perform edits for manager final sign off every other Monday.
Complete daily patient rounds.
Completes audits that directly impact practice, and then send follow up e-mails for immediate feedback and if possible face-to-face education.
In absence of manager respond to customer service issues with patients, families, MD and all other staff.
Assist manager in providing coaching and one-to-one feedback prior to any discipline. Provide background information to manager for any discipline needed.
Assists with Unusual Occurrence follow-up and education. Prepare updates on any items in red and develop action plans for same in conjunction with manager.
Assesses and problem solves using information systems and process to promote desired patient, professional and organizational outcomes. Plans, implements and evaluates unit based quality improvement activities. Participates in hospital quality initiatives.
Oversees: direct patient care scheduling and staffing to meet ASPAN guidelines call schedule required education and competencies per ASPAN guidelines Accurate and completed documentation per DNV and ASPAN guidelines Supports staff during high census Works collaboratively with OR supervisors Proficient in ASPAN guidelines and recommendations.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $47.53per hour - $81.75per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
