This position is currently eligible to work in a hybrid work environment with both onsite and remote work. Residency within the Kansas City-Overland Park-Kansas City, MO-KS Combined Statistical Area, which generally includes the Kansas counties of Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Miami, and Linn, and the Missouri counties of Jackson, Clay, Platte, Cass, and Ray, is required.



Job Description

Johnson County Government is seeking Developer II to join our JIMS development team. In this role, you will provide support for legacy systems and provide new solutions for new enhancement requests for our Justice partners. This role focuses on Microsoft-based technologies, browser-based applications development, and integration work across multiple platforms and databases. This position will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and maintain applications on the Microsoft .NET platform
* Work with Rocket UniVerse and MS SQL databases to support business-critical systems
* Develop and maintain browser-based applications
* Maintain and enhance legacy Visual Basic and C# (C-Sharp) codebases
* Develop & support APIs and application integrations
* Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues
* Collaborate with team members, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions
* Follow best practices for coding, testing, and documentation



Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

    2+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience with .NET technologies
  • Working knowledge of relational databases like MS SQL database
  • Experience maintaining legacy Visual Basic and C# applications
  • Experience developing and consuming APIs
  • Familiarity with application integrations
  • Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experience with browser-based / web application development

Soft Skills Required

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Curiosity and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Written communication skills, including business writing, summarizing, and editing skills.
  • Oral communication skills, including presentations to individuals.
  • Facilitation skills, including ability to use group decision making to gain commitment/consensus, gather business requirements and ability to encourage participation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Rocket UniVerse
  • Working understanding on Unix AIX.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Experience working with COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) software.
  • Basic understanding of IIS (Internet Information Services)

  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Clear communication and documentation skills
  • Comfortable working with both legacy and modern technologies
