Job Summary

The Cloud Engineering Architect serves as a technical and strategic leader responsible for designing modern, cloudenabled architecture. This role partners closely with business, and IT organizations to drive modernization across RMIC systems, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with enterprise architecture strategies. The architect shall define futurestate cloud architectures, and lead the transformation toward cloudnative, eventdriven solutions. This role plays a critical part in shaping crossART and crossplatform initiatives, guiding teams through complex system interdependencies in a scaled agile environment.

Under limited guidance, work at the business unit level developing the end-to-end solution architecture for significant initiatives in partnership with key business and IT stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead endtoend cloud architecture for RMIC systems, including pricing, rating, invoicing, billing integrity, and settlement workflows.
  • Develop cloud modernization roadmaps aligned with business priorities and enterprise architecture strategy.
  • Define cloud patterns, standards, and reference architectures that support highvolume financial and transactional workloads.
  • Drive adoption of cloudnative engineering practices.
  • Evaluate current-state RMIC platforms, identify modernization opportunities, and design future-state architectures.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, ARTs, and development teams to ensure architectural alignment across highly interdependent systems.
  • Define and enforce cloud governance, including security controls, observability, monitoring, and operational best practices.
  • Mentor solution architects and engineering teams on cloud architecture patterns and platform engineering practices.
  • Communicate complex architectural concepts and recommendations to technical and nontechnical executive audiences.
  • Exposes current state architecture and identifies options for future state architecture.
  • Works closely with business and IT stakeholders creating solutions that balance competing interests and concerns.
  • Develops plans for and facilitates the migration from current to selected future state by providing technical leadership to multiple initiatives.
  • Mentor those in less senior positions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in designing cloud architectures (i.e. in Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP))
  • Design end-to-end cloud architectures that are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise strategy
  • Evaluate cloud applications, hardware, software and recommend best-fit solutions
  • Apply modern architectural patterns across cloud and hybrid solutions
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, data privacy, encryption, and compliance
  • Experience architecting systems with high availability, resiliency, and disaster recovery
  • Strong communication, presentation, and crossfunctional leadership skills
  • General knowledge of hardware, software, and network.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lead major cloud migration and modernization initiatives
  • Experience designing resilient, scalable, cloud-modern architectures
  • Familiarity with enterprise tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect
  • Experience working in SAFe or largescale agile environments

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information Systems, business and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement.

Work locations

The desired locations for this position would be Memphis TN, Pittsburgh PA, Plano TX, or Orlando FL, however, this position may be located anywhere within the United States excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and US territories. Depending on your location, you may be required to work at a FedEx Campus several times per week.
