Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong Business Process Engineering (BPE) expertise to support a short-term engagement. This consultant will analyze, document, and optimize current business processes to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and data-driven decision-making across organizational functions.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience leading business process analysis initiatives, facilitating stakeholder workshops, and delivering actionable recommendations in nonprofit, government, or mission-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities

Business Process Analysis & Engineering

  • Assess current-state business processes across key operational areas.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and discovery sessions to gather requirements and pain points.
  • Develop current-state and future-state process maps (BPMN or similar).
  • Identify process gaps, redundancies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for automation or standardization.
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend process improvements aligned with organizational goals.

Requirements & Documentation

  • Translate business needs into clear functional and process requirements.
  • Produce high-quality documentation including:
  • Process maps and workflows
  • Business requirements documents (BRDs)
  • Gap analyses and recommendations
  • Implementation of roadmaps and prioritization matrices
  • Ensure deliverables are clear, actionable, and aligned with leadership expectations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with leadership, program teams, and technical stakeholders.
  • Facilitate working sessions and presentations to validate findings and recommendations.
  • Build consensus and drive alignment on future-state processes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Provide recommendations for process governance and performance metrics.
  • Support the development of KPIs and measurement frameworks to track improvements.
  • Deliver a final report summarizing findings, recommendations, and next steps.
Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with strong emphasis on Business Process Engineering / Process Improvement
  • Demonstrated experience leading process re-engineering or transformation initiatives
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Strong experience with:

  • Process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, etc.)
  • BPMN, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Proven ability to facilitate workshops and translate stakeholder needs into actionable deliverables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in nonprofit, government, or mission-driven organizations preferred
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs within a short timeline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent
  • Experience supporting nonprofit or mission-driven organizations
  • Experience supporting digital transformation or operational modernization initiatives
  • Experience developing KPI frameworks and performance metrics

Deliverables (High-Level)

  • Current-state process documentation
  • Future-state process maps and improvement recommendations
  • Gap analysis and prioritized roadmap
  • Executive summary and final report

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is highly preferred.

Salary Details:

  • $110/hour (1099 Contractor)
  • Duration: 2 months (short-term engagement)
  • Work Arrangement: Fully Remote
