Software Engineer Intern - Summer Intern 2026

The Company

Munich Re America Services (MRAS) is a shared service organization that delivers services to all Munich Re US P&C Companies and other group entities.

The Opportunity

The Software Engineer intern will work directly on production code for Zeguro's cybersecurity SaaS products, gaining hands-on experience with modern full-stack development practices. By participating in the full development lifecycle - from requirements discussions to code reviews to deployment - the intern will learn how professional engineering teams operate. By the end of the internship, the intern will have practical experience building and shipping production-grade web applications, understanding of agile development workflows and cross-functional collaboration, exposure to cybersecurity concepts and SaaS product development, and a portfolio of real contributions.

The role is based in San Francisco, CA. Remote opportunity may be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in building and maintaining frontend features using React and TypeScript
  • Write clean, well-tested code following team standards and participate in code reviews
  • Help troubleshoot and fix bugs across the application
  • Collaborate with designers, QA, and product managers to understand requirements
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retros) and contribute to technical documentation

Job Requirements:

  • Grade Level: Current Master's student in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Foundational understanding of JavaScript and web development concepts (HTML, CSS)
  • Familiarity with React or willingness to learn quickly
  • Basic understanding of Git and version control
  • Strong communication skills - able to ask questions and explain their thinking
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and collaborative mindset
  • Computer Skills: JavaScript, HTML/CSS, React (or willingness to learn), Git, VS Code or similar IDE
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude) is a plus; interest in cybersecurity is a plus but not required
  • Intern must be able to work in Pacific Standard (California) time zone

This role will be based in San Francisco, CA. The base range for this internship will be $28.00 - $32.00 per hour. The hourly estimate displayed represents the typical hourly range for candidates hired in this position in San Francisco. Factors that may be used to determine your actual rate will include your specific skills, level of schooling and how many years of experience.
