Position Summary

The Coordinator, Learning & Development - Americas will play a key role in continuing the growth of the Learning and Development offerings in line with Firm strategy, defining and executing the strategic learning and development imperatives to underpin this vision and deliver rewarding careers for our people, primarily focused on people based in the Firm's 10 offices in the Americas.

You are responsible for assisting in the implementation and evaluation of solutions that facilitate professional development and continuous learning for lawyers and business services professionals across the Firm's Americas offices. Your scope will include improving the capability and performance of our lawyers and business services professionals through both formal and informal learning channels, utilizing a full range of modalities, from physical and virtual classroom, through eLearning, coaching, and social and collaborative learning.

You will work with lawyers and business services professionals across the business to plan and deliver virtual and in-person learning programs and implement solutions to suit business needs and wider objectives. There will be an emphasis on career development and the employee experience across all levels.

The Americas Learning & Development Team is part of the Global Engagement and Development Team, which is responsible for:

Duties and Accountabilities1
  • In collaboration with the Americas L&D team and wider Engagement & Development team, support the delivery of the Firm's lawyer and business services professional skills training programs by managing participant and faculty lists and communications.
  • Serve as the Americas L&D team's liaison with events, HROD L&D, audio-visual, production, technology, catering, guest services, and facilities, coordinating production of program materials, tracking budget, and playing a leading role in day-of execution of program logistics.
  • Assist in planning and executing broader L&D initiatives, including managing digital/online resources throughout the region by coordinating with internal presenters, outside consultants, and events professionals to schedule and arrange program logistics and produce program materials.
  • Serve as a point person for the Americas team's internal communications on L&D offerings in the Firm's Americas region, including by authoring and promoting intranet posts, weekly training bulletin, invitation emails and calendar invitations, internal training calendar, information trackers and more.
  • Serve as a resource to and triage queries from lawyers and business services professionals in the Americas region for learning, development, training and coaching.
  • Participate in defining the overall training calendar for lawyers and business services professionals to meet business needs.
  • Attend and contribute at regular meetings of Global Engagement & Development team, Americas Learning & Development Team, and special project working groups as assigned.
  • Serve as the Americas team's primary liaison with the shared services team that supports continuing legal education ("CLE") and other training program data tracking. Ensure continuing legal education formalities are met for learning and development programming.
  • Assist in managing L&D vendor relationships, including contracts and relationships with coaches, consultants, and online learning and development content providers.
  • Manage and track Americas L&D team expenses by working with colleagues to process invoices and ensure costs are inputted into global budget tracker.
  • Maintain department records, including curriculum trackers and internal calendars. Coordinate agenda and logistics for team meetings. Serve as point person for coordinating with other teams to avoid calendar conflicts and work with other regional team members to coordinate regular L&D training and program report information.
Selection Criteria
  • Highly organized, able to work well under pressure, manage and deliver multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • High level of professionalism, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels of seniority.
  • Availability for occasional early morning and evening working hours as needed to support training program execution, including potential US travel to support off-site programs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Proficient with virtual training and meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom).
  • Familiarity with continuing legal education rules a plus.
  • Familiarity with Workday a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • One to two years' law firm administrative experience, with legal professional development or recruiting experience preferred. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Location & Reporting
  • This position is based in the Firm's New York office.
  • This role reports to Manager of Learning & Development - Americas with a dotted line to the Associate Director, Engagement and Development - Firm Operations (Global).
