The Sr System Engineer is responsible for maintaining all cloud, windows, security and system configurations. Assist with the design, documentation, and implementation of all system changes affecting delivery of IT services. Provide Engineering technical support and oversight functions in conjunction with the IT department to ensure all reported problems, requests, and other service related tickets are worked on a timely basis, completed, and closed according to department operational procedures. Assure the accurate recording of all system modifications in the IT Change Management System and verify modifications are implemented as defined and Change Requests closed when completed.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, documentation, and implementation of all system changes affecting delivery of IT services
  • Provide assistance and guidance to other Engineering and IT Support staff as needed
  • Maintain Windows Server and corresponding systems 24 X 7
  • Ensure reliability of all LAN/WAN connections, gateways, and communications circuits
  • Take immediate, independent corrective action to resolve network problems when management is not available for consultation
  • Maintain and install network hardware and software, including, servers (primarily Windows), Azure Virtual Desktop, and VMWare operating software
  • Provide root cause analysis and review IT metrics to maintain quality control
  • Ensure daily backups of all network data are performed as scheduled
  • Restore data to servers and user directories as needed
  • Assure proper testing of all new servers, systems, patches, upgrades, etc. on test network environment prior to move to a live production status
  • Maintain complete server/equipment/software change documentation and ensure management authorization is obtained prior to any changes to network configurations, hardware, software, or operating systems by the Engineering staff
  • Provide direct user computer assistance as needed
  • Continue to obtain training and knowledge on an ongoing basis and share information with other engineering staff
  • Demonstrate a complete working knowledge of our disaster recover procedures, locations, vendor support, and participate in a disaster recovery test
  • Maintain industry proficiency through ongoing self development outside of regular engineering duties, including independent learning such as reading, courses, and seminars to keep professional skills and certifications current
  • Provide weekend after hours support on a rotational basis
  • Provide support to the IT Help Desk by answering technical questions, conducting research, delivering training, and assisting users directly as needed
  • Help with hardware / software repairs and troubleshooting on workstations
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 5+ years Windows System Engineer experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
