Overview
General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking an AV support specialist to join the Information Technology department. Responsible for commissioning, maintaining and supporting complex audiovisual systems in secure, compliance-driven environment. Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain control system programs for Crestron, Extron, Q-Sys, and other AV automation platforms.
- Configure DSPs, video-over-IP systems, and networked AV devices for optimal performance and interoperability.
- Create reusable code modules, macros, and templates for scalable enterprise deployment.
- Produce technical documentation, logic diagrams, and compliance packages for AV programming and maintain version control for audit readiness.
- Validate and commission new systems, troubleshooting programming and integration issues during deployment.
- Oversee vendor and subcontractor programming efforts to maintain adherence to DoD standards.
- Act as Tier 3 escalation point for advanced AV programming and integration issues.
- Coordinate with IT, cybersecurity, and facilities teams to ensure secure, compliant operations.
- Mentor junior programmers and analysts in best practices and compliance standards.
- Support executive-level meetings, video conferences, and large-scale events through expert programming and automation.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience in AV system programming, control systems, and enterprise AV integration.
- Relevant Certifications in CTS-D, Crestron, Q-Sys, Extron, Biamp, or similar AV programming.
- Experience with Crestron, Extron, Q-Sys, Biamp, Shure, Dante, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Cisco, and or AV-over-IP
- Ability to travel to local and remote sites as needed.
- Active DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain
Preferred:
- Prior experience working with Electric Boat or another DOD contractor
- Experience developing scalable automation logic across multiple enterprise sites.
- Familiarity with DoD RMF, DISA STIGs, and federal compliance processes.
- Strong knowledge of AV/IT convergence, networking, and enterprise collaboration systems
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Must be able to function both independently and within a team environment, and be able to facilitate internal and external team meetings with self-sufficiency
- Successful candidates must be detail oriented and have excellent organizational skills, with a demonstrated strong work ethic for completing tasks and work assignments on schedule
- Ability to collaborate with engineers and analysts to design and integrate AV systems with enterprise IT networks.
- Troubleshoot complex systems including control logic, DSP configurations, video routing, and networked AV devices
- Partner with IT leadership, security managers, and contracting teams to align AV automation strategies with organizational objectives.
