As a Transportation Supervisor at Ryerson, you will be responsible for directing the efficient function of logistics for our fleet operations including but not limited to loading, scheduling, load management and more.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Increased fleet utilization through increased pounds/trip, stops/trip while traveling minimum miles
  • Geographically centralized load building
  • Geographically centralized dunamic routing of fleet through use of a Transportation Management System
  • Reduction of empty miles through backhaul opportunities
  • One Way Carrier load management
  • UMatrix reporting of drivers for productivity and service feedback and goal setting
  • Master data management of Oracle Transportation Management for the market
  • Ensure training is effectively carried out and oversee completion of training checklists
  • KPI, Expense Management and Reporting on transportation activity
  • Conflict resolution with customers and suppliers
  • Provide direction and coaching in safe work practices; support safety goals
  • Review unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are carried out to eliminate workplace hazard
  • Efficient truck loading and unloading times to meet best practice standards
  • Transportation accident management and investigation
  • Proper documentation of all required logistics paperwork
  • DOT compliance of market's private fleet
  • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED is required; College Education preferred
  • A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years supervisory experience
  • Two (2) years of logistics experience
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • The successful candidate is expected to develop proficiency in SAP as part of their role. Prior experience is not required, but a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and become proficient in SAP is essential
