The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the assigned substation manufacturing department, with direct oversight of Control Panel Technicians. This role blends production leadership with hands-on engineering support, ensuring operational excellence, safety compliance, product quality, and continuous process improvement.

The supervisor will oversee daily manufacturing operations while also supporting control system design, panel construction, and transformer control evaluation. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards, and company policies is essential to success in this role.



  • Enforce strict safety guidelines and ensure environmental compliance across all department activities.
  • Balance safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives to achieve positive operational results.
  • Collaborate with management to establish daily, weekly, and monthly production objectives and communicate expectations clearly to department leads and technicians.
  • Track, analyze, and report daily production metrics; identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes within substation production.
  • Oversee Control Panel Technicians, providing technical guidance, performance management, and hands-on support as needed.
  • Design electrical schematics for substation and padmount transformer control systems based on customer specifications.
  • Assist in the construction and wiring of control panels, demonstrating a willingness to be hands-on when necessary to support production demands.
  • Evaluate control systems on customer substation and padmount transformers and recommend improvements or corrective actions.
  • Estimate repair costs related to transformer control systems and coordinate required repairs.
  • Ensure the safe use and proper maintenance of equipment; notify management when maintenance is required.
  • Review production output to ensure adherence to quality specifications and customer requirements.
  • Train employees on safe machinery use, standard operating procedures, and technical best practices.
  • Track employee attendance, timekeeping, and required safety/compliance training completion.
  • Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching and feedback, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Work closely with other shift supervisors to ensure effective production handovers and cross-shift alignment.
  • Manage vendor and client communications related to production and control system requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • High School or GED required.
  • 3+ years of transformer or manufacturing supervision experience.
  • Journeyman Electrical or Master certification preferred.
  • Auto CAD experience
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
  • WMS (Warehouse Management System) experience preferred.
  • OSHA10 certified preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
  • A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
  • Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization. Notifies management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
  • Ability to interpret work orders and ensure the team has what they need to be set up for success to execute.
  • Meet department and production goals set by manager.
  • Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail and can work in a team environment.
  • Adheres to the company's employee handbook policies and embodies the organization's core values.
  • Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed.
  • Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Physical requirements for this role include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Lift 50lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times
    • Standing and walking for long durations
    • Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations
    • The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times
    • Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods
    • Comfortable working in the heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled
