The Role
At Presidio we are seeking a seasoned Senior Director to lead our AWS Cloud Architect team to design design, implement, and scale our next-generation cloud operations environment. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS architecture, cloud automation, and operational excellence frameworks, with a proven ability to build and mature CloudOps capabilities-including Level 1/Level 2 support, service catalog management, FinOps integration, and proactive maintenance operations.

Travel Requirements:

This role will be remotely based for candidates residing in the Northeast Region. Associated travel is 10%.

Responsibilities include:



  • AWS Architecture & Design: Define and implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud architectures across multiple AWS accounts and landing zones.
  • Cloud Operations Buildout: Develop operational frameworks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and governance models for Level 1 and Level 2 cloud support.
  • Automation & Tooling: Design and deploy automation pipelines for provisioning, configuration management, and observability using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Monitoring & Incident Management: Implement end-to-end monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes leveraging CloudWatch, Grafana, PagerDuty, or similar toolchains.
  • Service Catalog & Vanity Services: Build and standardize self-service automation, service catalogs, and repeatable "vanity" (customized) AWS service offerings for business stakeholders.
  • FinOps & Governance Integration: Partner with FinOps and Security teams to embed cost, compliance, and performance metrics into ongoing operations and reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and post-mortem practices to improve resiliency and operational efficiency across environments.
  • Knowledge Enablement: Develop documentation, runbooks, and training programs to upskill the CloudOps support team.


Required Skills and Professional Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience work experience and/or military experience
  • 10+ years in cloud architecture, DevOps, or operations engineering, with at least 5 years focused on AWS
  • Strong knowledge of AWS core services (EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, CloudFormation, IAM)
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and event-driven automation frameworks
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, or other scripting languages for automation
  • Familiarity with observability platforms (Datadog, New Relic, CloudWatch)
  • Experience with multi-account and multi-region design patterns
  • Proven record of building or maturing CloudOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) functions
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership abilities to guide cross-functional teams through transformation
  • Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional (preferred), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or equivalent
