This is a full-time position | 1st Shift (Subject to change) | Some travel is required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

  • Proactively foster a learning safety culture by modeling a safe work ethic and promoting the value of open reporting and shared safety responsibility.Follow all safety policies, standards, and procedures in order to achieve a safe and healthy work environment for all staff, customers, and visitors. Similarly support Inland's environmental commitments by helping to limit our organization's impact on the ecosystem;
  • Ensure that IDS follows all Government Labor, Health and Safety laws, regulations and policies;
  • Abide by Inland's procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations;
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and HAVE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR UNSAFE ACTS!;
  • Plan and carry out work assignments and handle problems in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training or accepted company practices and procedures;
  • Interprets construction drawings (blueprints and general layouts);
  • Fitting various metals such as carbon, stainless steel and aluminum;
  • Designing and constructing jigs and templates when required;
  • Set up and operation of GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW welding applications;
  • Keep all Inland owned or managed equipment, tools and materials in good working condition, including keeping clean and returning to assigned storage areas when not in use;
  • Work cooperatively with all team members and external stakeholders involved in the completion of assigned duties;
  • Promote the best interest of the company by fostering goodwill and support between Inland and its customers ensuring that Inland's policy of superior service and satisfaction are met;
  • Understand and promote the Company's mission statement, values and strategic goals;
  • Foster a team environment and create a "group culture";

  • To accomplish any other tasks that may, from time to time, be assigned by management.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.
  • Must have your own welding helmet. Some Uniform pieces will be provided.
  • Ability to perform core manufacturing processes (Acetylene cutting, scarfing & welding, plasma arc cutting, hydro testing pipe, etc.);
  • Ability to inspect parts with a focus on best-in-class quality control;
  • Read, write, speak and communicate effectively;
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work independently to achieve project goals before deadline;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to maintain a positive and good-natured attitude;
  • Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure within fixed time constraints;
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, with an ability to motivate and work in a team environment.

Education and Experience:

  • 2-year Welding Diploma;
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of welding experience;
  • Experience with carbon, stainless steel and aluminum tig welding is mandatory.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Red Seal/Journey Person considered an asset.

Work Environment:

  • The Fitter-Welder will work in a manufacturing and production working environment.There will be regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions (wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and vibration). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. There may be times when the Fitter-Welder will be required to work outside of their normal work schedule, so that we may meet the needs of our customers and/or operational requirements.

Physical Demands:

  • It is expected that the employee be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;
  • Position involves standing for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to seventy-five (75) pounds occasionally and fifty (50) pounds frequently;
  • Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment;
  • Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently to comprehend instructions;
  • Employees must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work;
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time hourly-paid position with an average of 40 hours per week expected.Due to the nature of our business hours of work are to be flexible with additional hours possibly required during certain projects.

Travel:

  • Periodic travel to IDS sites to facilitate welding repairs or, project requirements.
