Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Branch Operations Officer to lead our San Mateo branch operations. In this critical role, you will be the backbone of the branch, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations, strict regulatory compliance, and an exceptional client experience.
Partnering closely with the Branch Manager, you will drive staff development and operational excellence while fostering a culture of growth and local community engagement within the San Mateo and Peninsula area.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership & Risk Management: Ensure 100% adherence to bank policies as well as state and federal regulations. Manage branch security protocols, including staff training, cash limits, and audit certifications.
- Transaction Authority: Approve high-level transactions, manage exceptions, and perform supervisory overrides with fiscal responsibility.
- Staff Management: Supervise and mentor a team of up to 5 employees, including Client Service Representatives and New Account staff. Manage employee scheduling, timekeeping, and performance coaching.
- Workflow Oversight: Oversee daily processing of large transaction reports, NSF exception items, and critical compliance documentation to ensure audit readiness.
- Client Experience: Professionally resolve complex customer inquiries and account disputes. Collaborate with the Branch Manager to achieve deposit growth goals through client prospecting.
- Community Impact: Represent the bank in the San Mateo community through promotional activities and 10 hours of compensable CRA volunteer work annually.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of retail banking experience (Required).
- Supervisory Experience: At least 4 years in a leadership or management role (Required).
- Operations Expertise: Minimum 4 years of direct operations experience within a retail banking environment (Required).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and core banking systems.
- Certification: Active California Notary Public designation is preferred.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and discretion in handling sensitive financial data.
