Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Recruiting Coordinator in the New York office.

As a Recruiting Coordinator, you will join a top-notch team that places an emphasis on innovation and adapting to the evolving practices of competitive legal recruiting. You will work with the Director of US Recruiting, and other members of the legal recruiting team, to hire associates, judicial clerks and law students, as well as help coordinate the local summer program. You will work with a Recruiting Manager to hire for a Business Unit-based lateral recruiting process, working with dynamic attorneys across all of our U.S. offices and our Senior U.S. Manager of Lateral Associate Recruiting. You will also assist the Senior U.S. Manager of Law School Recruiting in fostering relationships with local law schools and assisting with the OCI recruiting process. In addition to serving as one of the contacts for the New York office, you will facilitate local attorney onboarding for laterals, summer associates and first-year associates.


Responsibilities

Lateral Recruiting

  • Working with Business Unit recruiters, schedule screening and callback interviews.
  • Collecting feedback from interviewers and compiling for BU recruiters and Hiring Partners.
  • Drafting offer letters.
  • Facilitating onboarding.

Law School Recruiting

  • Follows up with interviewing attorney(s) to get evaluation forms.
  • Assists with internal and external recruiting functions. Create and distribute nametags, maintain guest list, follow up, create gift bags and order transportation to and from the function as needed.
  • Coordinates and attends virtual Hiring Committee meetings (prepares agenda and candidate files).
  • Prepares information to generate reimbursement for and payment of invoices related to legal recruitment.
  • Screen unsolicited resumes and respond to applicants.
  • Attend seminars and meetings as sponsored by NYCRA and NALP.

Summer Program:

  • Pre-summer program administration which includes planning events and trainings, and conducting the summer orientation.
  • Maintains NY summer calendar.
  • Attend summer program events and training sessions.
  • Maintain excel spreadsheets evaluation and feedback reports on a weekly basis.
  • Compile the mid and end of summer review folders for Recruiting Manager and Hiring Partners.
  • Perform other tasks or special projects assigned by the Hiring Partner and Recruiting Manager.

First Year Associates:

  • Assist with first year orientation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in recruiting, preferably in a law firm.
  • Extraordinary verbal and written communications and presentation skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability and desire to work closely with different practices and understand unique attorney dynamics and needs particular to each group.
  • The ability to operate in an enthusiastic manner with a broad range of professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience working both independently and harmoniously on team and in other organizational contexts/levels.
  • Adept at handling concurrent projects and challenging priorities in a high-volume, dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
  • Your ambition and dedication to work beyond the position's written duties and assist in various areas of the firm's operations is essential.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • You will need the willingness to work during irregular evening and weekend hours when required for time-sensitive, project-specific activities and/or during urgent situations.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $53,000 and $85,000.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
