Position Summary

Senior Quality Engineer (QE) supports the establishment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS). The position is responsible for implementing quality assurance processes that enhance operational practices. This position is essential in prevention and corrective measures and reducing process variability.


Duties And Responsibilities

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for leveraging their expertise and applied technologies to:

  • Develop procedures and quality plans in support of customer requirements.
  • Evaluate processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement Quality solutions.
  • Investigate quality failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collect and analyze quality data, identify trends, and initiate improvement actions.
  • Support certification to quality standards and regulations and participate in internal audit program.
  • Develop technical reports and business correspondence.
  • Educate and mentor employees in Quality Management System requirements and processes.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by analyzing customer feedback and creating action plans for improvement.
  • Participate in bids and proposals development by providing input and verifying customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality, Supply Chain and Program Management organization to manage supplier performance, including leading or participating in supplier audits.
  • Work closely with Engineering to ensure requirements that are defined as Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) and/or Critical-to-Process (CTP) are defined and understood by appropriate suppliers.
  • Function as change agents, using Quality Assurance methods to promote a culture of failure prevention.
  • Utilize Quality programs to drive performance improvement and reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) in products and services.
  • Facilitate Risk Assessments and associated actions.
  • Review and approve drawings and engineering change orders as part of the system workflows.
  • Identify, measure, analyze, and report the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). Make recommendations to senior leadership on corrective actions required to reduce COPQ.
  • Mentor/Train individuals in PFMEA.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. Commensurate and demonstrated experience may be substituted for a degree
  • 7+ years of experience in Quality, including product manufacturing experience.
  • Extensive experience working in an ISO9001 Quality Management System.
  • Understanding of basic manufacturing techniques; set-up, machining, casting, forging, NDE, dimensional, welding, and general mechanical design.
  • Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings, specifications, and general knowledge of what is required in a complete engineering / Purchase Order package to be provided to a supplier.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Quality Management Systems and principles and a variety of operational excellence processes.
  • Ability to utilize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance in the analysis of current and future products
  • Strong written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to evaluate quality of manufacturing and production processes against good manufacturing practices, company purchase order specifications, engineering package, quality codes, etc.
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of suppliers' quality controls and recommend improvements.

DESIRED:

  • Experience as a manufacturing engineer with materials, welding, machining, pressurized components.
  • Qualified, competent, and certified as an ISO 9001 lead auditor.
  • Project management experience.
  • Lean, Six Sigma (Black Belt), or equivalent certification.Experience in applicable mechanical, welding engineering disciplines.

Additional Information

This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.

PAY, BENEFITS AND WORK SCHEDULE :

We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package. Annualized pay rate for this position: $110,500 to $149,500.
