About the Location - Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

Cape Canaveral Space Force Station sits at the heart of Florida's Space Coast and is a critical hub for national security, aerospace, and space launch operations. Working primarily on site, this role supports mission-critical programs in a highly technical, secure environment where precision, coordination, and schedule certainty are essential. The surrounding Space Coast area offers a strong engineering and defense presence, coastal living, and proximity to Melbourne, Cocoa Beach, and the broader Central Florida region.

The Sr Construction Project Engineer will lead in supporting the execution of assigned projects and ensuring the achievement of the project's technical scope, schedule, and financial requirements and metrics. This role involves providing expert-level assistance to ensure the successful planning and execution of construction projects.

The Sr Construction Project Engineer may be required to travel or relocate to meet project requirements. Willingness to travel for project assignments is highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Lead and oversee the execution of construction projects, ensuring adherence to technical requirements, schedules, and financial metrics.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, offering expertise in daily technical activities required for project planning and successful execution.
* Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to strategize and implement project plans that meet defined objectives.
* Interpret complex design specifications, oversee quality control, and resolve intricate technical issues to ensure project completion at superior standards.
* Prepare and oversee project technical design submittals, reports, and documentation of inspections and testing results.
* Monitor and evaluate subcontractor and craft progress, ensuring alignment with project requirements and standards.
* Manage subcontractor requests for information (RFIs) and liaise with engineering teams as necessary for seamless project execution.
* Review and analyze construction subcontractor implementation plans, identifying and mitigating potential risks or issues.
* Play a key role in establishing project baselines for cost, schedule, and critical project parameters.
* Oversee the project master schedule, plan and implement daily activities, and manage the three-week look-ahead schedules.
* Oversee the process to secure the necessary permits, environmental approvals, and licenses.
* Lead a strong safety and quality program on the project.
* Lead the commissioning, closeout, and turnover process.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
* BS in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
* 8 or more years of work-related experience in the construction industry, demonstrating progressive responsibilities and leadership.
* Experience with Procore or similar management software is a plus.
* TAKT planning experience is a plus.
* Strong communication skills, and the ability to work well with clients.
* Technical and application knowledge of the built environment infrastructure, including buildings and infrastructure.
* Must have experience in the construction industry.
* Comprehensive knowledge of project estimation and scheduling techniques.
* Willingness to travel occasionally to meet project demands.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Ability to navigate and move around the construction site, which may involve walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding, and standing for extended periods on uneven surfaces.
* Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
* Ability to handle tools, equipment, and perform tasks that require coordination and manual skills.
* Manual dexterity, hearing, mental acuity, typing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
* Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
* Ability to stand and sit for periods longer than 30 minutes but not to exceed two hours consecutively.
* Ability to print and draw letters, numbers, words, characters, and symbols that are legible and understood by others.
* Ability to learn complex tasks and remember how to complete tasks without assistance once trained.
* Ability to control behavior when encountering stressful situations or short deadlines and to maintain a high level of concentration.
* Quick thinking and decision-making ability to address issues and challenges that may arise during construction.
* Endurance to work in various weather conditions and handle the physical demands of supervising a construction project.
* Strict adherence to safety protocols and the ability to enforce safety standards on the construction site.
* Adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements when on the construction site, such as hard hats, safety vests, and steel-toed boots.
