Position Description
We are seeking a Senior Director of Finance, reporting to the Vice President, Finance - Global Data Centers, to serve as a key strategic partner to the Americas Data Center leadership team. The leader will provide financial leadership and oversee all financial functions, from high-level strategic planning down to plant-level execution. This role is responsible for driving decisions that impact profitability and long-term growth by leading a team of finance professionals and translating complex financial data into actionable insights for the business. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, strategic thinker with a proven track record leading finance for a large, global business segment in a publicly traded manufacturing company.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership & Business Partnership
- Serve as a finance business partner to the leadership team, providing strategic recommendations to make sound business decisions.
- Contribute to strategic planning at the executive level to develop and implement a financial strategy that aligns with the vertical's vision and long-term objectives.
- Support key business development and strategic planning, including analysis for growth strategies, divestitures, acquisitions, and restructuring plans (e.g., business closures, sales, and exits).
- Evaluate new investment opportunities, including R&D/NPD, by performing feasibility studies, risk-adjusted return analysis, and investment prioritization.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Oversee the full profit and loss (P&L) and balance sheet forecast processes, overseeing the consolidation of plant and regional forecasts into the overall segment plan.
- Collaborate with segment finance to oversee annual budgeting and long-range financial planning processes, ensuring timely and accurate submission of all deliverables.
- Provide 80/20 financial support, including the oversight of vertical financial statements, data analytics, target setting, and tracking.
- Analyze group performance trends and KPIs, translating insights into actionable recommendations for management and segment leadership.
- Assess and manage financial risks and opportunities to optimize financial outcomes.
Operational Finance & Process Improvement
- Lead the comprehensive analysis and reporting of financial and operational performance-including profitability, standard vs. actual cost variances, and other key metrics-to provide accurate, transparent insights for internal leadership and external stakeholders (such as investor relations).
- Collaborate with general managers and operations leaders to drive cost optimization strategies and productivity initiatives across manufacturing sites.
- Monitor and drive disciplined product pricing, costing/estimating processes, and quotation analysis in alignment with strategic roadmaps.
- Drive initiatives to improve cash flow and working capital by partnering with plant finance, procurement, operations, and sales teams.
- Enhance FP&A processes, tools, and systems (e.g., SAP, Hyperion, BI) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Accounting & Controls
- Ensure compliance with Modine Financial Standard Practices and other functional and operational standard practices, maintaining strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Oversee the implementation of new or revised standard practices and ensure appropriate training is conducted across various functions.
- Coordinate with corporate accounting to ensure accounting systems, processes, and controls are running effectively.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, finance team, including group finance managers and plant finance managers.
- Foster a culture of accountability, analytical rigor, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Attract, train, and retain top finance talent to support organizational scalability and succession planning.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA, CPA, or CMA is highly preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience in a global manufacturing environment.
- Required experience as the finance leader of a large (>$750 million), global business segment or division.
- Experience in hyper-growth market preferred.
- Strong background in financial analysis, forecasting, and operational controlling within a publicly traded company (knowledge of US GAAP required).
- Demonstrated experience with acquisitions, divestitures, integration, and developing restructuring plans.
