Project/Unit Description

GTRI's Information and Communication Laboratory (ICL) Trusted and Interoperable Systems and Architecture Division is looking for a product strategist in the healthcare domain with 3+ years of experience identifying, interpreting and summarizing requirements (business, functional, technical). The initial assignment will be as part of a multi-year effort to assist the State of Georgia in the development of a new Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). The ideal candidate will have excellent collaboration skills, will be innovative, creative, quick thinker, fast learner, and a team player with a strong customer service focus.

The project is based in the Centergy Building at 75 Fifth Street NW Atlanta, on the Georgia Tech campus.


Job Purpose

Product Strategist create long-term visions for product lines and technologies. This is based on in-depth stakeholder and market research and a deep understanding of the breadth of technologies. They analyze product performance and adjust product designs accordingly. At the higher levels, a strategist oversees product managers across multiple product lines for an organization. This can be internal to GTRI or across multiple sponsor organizations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of stakeholder engagement/customer discovery instrument (e.g. surveys and interview guides) development.
  • Conduct stakeholder engagement/customer discovery
  • Analyze customer insight and market and technology research to develop a product vision
  • Work with product designers to design the product
  • Work with a cross-functional team to create a realistic and value-driven product roadmap
  • Designate roles to their team by thinking critically about the work dynamic, strengths and weaknesses of all their employees
  • Staying on top of trends to determine market openings for new products
  • Report the progress of a product to senior staff and/or upper-level management.
  • Foster a positive team culture *Write selling points and design strategies to sell their product
  • Work with a Product Strategist to ensure that the product vision and roadmap aligns with the larger product strategy.
  • Work with a Senior Product Manager to ensure that the product roadmap aligns with a larger suite of product roadmaps.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with the sponsor and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable technical and business solutions.
  • Analyze business processes and technical systems, proposing strategic improvements to enhance organizational performance and system functionality.
  • Work closely with Senior Product Managers and technical teams to ensure that products align with product strategy and organizational goals.
  • Document and communicate project goals, workflows, and strategies to ensure transparency and alignment across teams.
  • Ensure all technical implementations comply with all State and Federal Medicaid, legal and regulatory requirements.


Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Medicaid Information Management Systems (MMIS) including core functionality, typical functional modules and architectural system components.
  • Extensive knowledge of Medicaid healthcare policy
  • Experience leading technical teams in a product strategist capacity
  • Experience conducting market research and analysis and presenting of results to sponsor leadership
  • Experience in supporting system integration efforts


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing enterprise content management systems for a MMIS
  • Experience supporting large scale document migrations by analyzing document types, evaluating metadata content and mapping metadata fields, designing approaches to validate migration outcomes.
  • Experience with custom API design for document management
