Position Summary

Provide support for new and existing products through quality support, support for inspection validation and product testing.

Responsibilities

Main Job Responsibilities:

Thorough guidance of Quality and Product Engineers, support FCD Quality projects. Additionally, the Quality intern will,

  • Participate in design reviews of components for inspection requirements.

  • Assist with scrap and warranty claim data analysis.

  • Root-cause investigation of Quality concerns.

  • Participate in Kaizen events.

Projects:

  • Develop CAD-model inspection programs for CMM and optical inspection.

  • Assist with scrap and warranty claim data analysis.

  • Explore / Implement AI tools in the Quality Department.

  • Root-cause investigation of Quality concerns.

Goals:

Align engineering course work to "real-world" applications. Understand the relationship between theory and how to correlate to practical inspection methods and problem solving.

  • Further expand upon Quality principles as learned within current college courses

  • Understand relationships between what is created in CAD vs what is physically machined

  • Ensure Design intent aligns with product specifications as required by customers, internal or external.

  • Gain "hands-on" experience by utilizing inspection equipment to validate problem solving

Outcomes / Results:

  • Better understand the relationships between college course work and real-world engineering.

  • Ensure student is more prepared as he / she enters the workforce after college.

  • Provide FCD with additional support to facilitate completion of projects and business-related activities.

Qualifications

Sophomore or Junior pursing a degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited university. This position will run from May till July.
