Description

We are seeking an experienced and accomplished prosecutor for a managerial position in our Special Victims Bureau. The candidate would be responsible for assisting in the management of some of the finest Special Victims prosecutors in the state, who are tasked with supporting survivors and holding accountable offenders who prey upon the vulnerable. The Special Victims Bureau investigates and prosecutes felony matters involving sexual assaults against adults and children, child physical abuse, and violence against the elderly.

The manager will perform the following job functions, including but not limited to:



  • Assist the Bureau Chief in running the day-to-day operations of the Special Victims Bureau including management of ADAs and support professionals assigned to the bureau.
  • Monitor cases and interface with the court, defense bar, Assistant District Attorneys and other stakeholder agencies.
  • Advise ADAs on investigations, case management, grand jury presentations, hearings, trials, possible dispositions, sentencing, Sex Offender Risk Assessment Hearings and other matters.
  • Provide on call support 24-7 as rotational backup supervisor to on-call ADA's and the Intake Bureau.
  • Make securing order requests on cases within the Special Victims Bureau case assignment guidelines.


Qualifications: Candidates should have extensive experience investigating and trying complex and challenging cases. Interested applicants must possess a J.D. degree, and be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing. Applicants must also have:



  • At least 10 years of post-JD experience in prosecution.
  • Substantial felony jury trial experience
  • Experience in prosecuting article 130 offenses
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral skills.
  • Expertise in Sex Offender Registration Assessment issues, statute of limitation issues associated with sex offenses, child swear ability determinations and forensic DNA issues
  • Training in trauma informed and child forensic interviewing practices
  • Prior experience managing junior attorneys preferred
  • Ability to succeed in fast-paced high-volume atmosphere


Title and salary will be commensurate with experience. Range from $160,000 to $180,000
