Job Overview:

The Assistant Director, Provider Engagement, oversees the integration and expansion of recovery services across RWJBarnabas Health. The Assistant Director will closely collaborate with the Institute for Prevention and Recovery, IFPRs Medical Director. This role is responsible for building and maintaining effective partnerships with clinical and medical teams throughout the system. The Assistant Director leads initiatives to educate providers and staff, strengthen clinical coordination, and improve access to evidence-based prevention and recovery services.

This position requires a strong understanding of healthcare systems, excellent communication skills, and experience in developing and delivering education to clinical audiences. The Assistant Director plays a key role in advancing IFPRs mission by aligning clinical practices with public health goals and ensuring that providers are equipped to address substance use and social determinants of health within the care setting.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health or related field
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in a healthcare, hospital, or integrated care setting
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health, substance use, prevention, and public health education
  • Demonstrated success in provider education, program development, or systems-level collaboration
  • Demonstrated experience working in electronic medical records, clinical workflows, and hospital operations
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development/training, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

Preferred:

  • Master's degree

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a liaison between IFPR and medical teams across RWJBarnabas Health to support integration of prevention, behavioral health, and recovery services
  • Integrate system initiatives into IFPR program design and workflows
  • Participate in internal workgroups, committees, and health system collaborations
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and workflow integration to enhance patient care
  • Assist in the development of case studies, provider feedback tools, and evaluation summaries
  • Collaborate with IFPRs Medical Director to lead provider education and engagement initiatives
  • Support continuing education programs, grand rounds, and interdisciplinary learning opportunities
  • Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team to align reporting with strategic objectives and grant deliverables
  • Contribute to cross-system initiatives that advance population health, health equity, and patient-centered care
  • Support data collection, reporting, and anecdotal evidence that reflects the impact of IFPRs clinical collaborations
  • Build relationships with physicians, nurses, case managers, and administrators in acute, ambulatory, and specialty settings
  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate training on topics such as substance-use screening, the Peer Recovery Program, harm reduction, maternal health topics, and social determinants of health
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
