Hourly Pay Range:

$21.08 - $31.62 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Pathology Technician
  • Location: Northwest Community Hospital
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm, 8:30am-5pm

What you will do:

  • Processing surgical and clinical specimens, verifying accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Preparing specimens for pathological examination
  • Assisting in the preparation of microscopic slides from tissue specimens, ensuring high-quality slide production.
  • Staining slides using various techniques and reagents as required.
  • Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, including cryostats, and tissue processors.
  • Performing routine equipment checks and coordinating maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Enter data into the laboratory information system (LIS) accurately and promptly, ensuring proper specimen tracking and record keeping.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records of specimen processing, staining, and results.
  • Participating in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  • Collaborating with pathologists and supervisors to address any issues or discrepancies.
  • Managing laboratory supplies, reagents, and chemicals inventory.
  • Monitoring usage, reordering supplies as necessary, and ensuring proper storage.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines for handling specimens, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
  • Contributing to maintaining a safe laboratory environment and participate in safety training.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree Biology Required
  • Experience: 1 Year Prior experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting is preferred.
