Overview

Veeco's San Jose, CA, location is seeking a technically strong Staff Product Applications Engineer to lead development and customer engagement. Veeco is well-positioned with strong teams, core technologies, and an entrepreneurial culture that fosters innovation and new product development.

The primary objectives of this role include:



  • Developing, optimizing and sustaining laser annealing products
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance value through improvements or creation of new capabilities
  • Closely collaborating with customers, marketing, sales, service and manufacturing teams.



Responsibilities



  • Apply device and integration knowledge to guide application development
  • Lead Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP) including planning, execution, and performance measurement; engage closely with engineering
  • Work closely with Marketing to drive new product requirement and roadmap
  • Engage closely with customers to develop applications and optimize process performance on Laser Anneal systems
  • Present technical product details to customers and sales teams
  • Develop and maintain Best Known Methods (BKMs) for process control, development, and continuous improvement
  • Drive adoption of BKMs and new applications across internal teams and customers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process issues; collaborate with service and engineering teams as needed
  • Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and technical support to internal teams, customers, and partners
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the Asia Pacific region to support revenue and service requirements
  • Participate regularly in technical trainings to stay current on product information and strengthen professional knowledge
  • Validate operational quality of system equipment and instruct customers on operation and maintenance



Qualifications

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science or related discipline with 8+ years of semiconductor process development experience or a PhD in a related field with 5 years of experience. Ability to travel up to 30% (domestic and international)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Strong understanding of semiconductor devices, module processes, and process integration in logic and/or memory manufacturing is required
  • Knowledge of Rapid Thermal Processing (RTP) and implant processes is desirable
  • Self-motivated team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in customer management is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English



Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $164,000-$208,000, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
