Job Summary:

The senior financial analyst is responsible for monthly capital reporting and the capital five-year financial model for the enterprise. This position works independently to prepare monthly capital actual versus budget and projection reports for senior management. This position applies financial accounting knowledge and an understanding of how capital impacts the overall financial plan in analyzing enterprise capital budgets and forecasts. This position is responsible for coordinating the five-year capital plan submission process, preparing capital reporting for senior management presentations, working with functional and forecasting analysts to ensure capital is modeled accurately, coordinating capital management reporting with asset accounting, and responding to capital related questions. This position supports Regulated Utilities Other capital reporting, including monthly AvB analysis and projection updates. In addition to capital reporting and forecasting, this position assists with consolidating monthly financial forecasts and reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares the monthly capital ROCR and MMR AvB and projection reports

  • Owns and updates enterprise capital business rules for management reporting

  • Coordinates the five-year capital plan submission process for major model runs

  • Capital guidance preparation including incorporating ECO outcomes

  • Coordinates capital budget process for enterprise

  • Coordinates with asset accounting on capital reporting questions

  • Prepares capital related presentation materials for senior management and external reporting

  • Assists with monthly financial forecast consolidation process

  • Performs ad-hoc financial analysis as needed

  • Supports rate case capital requests and questions as needed

Basic/Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline

  • Three (3) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree

  • Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft, OneStream, PowerPlan, etc.) and query tools (WebI, PowerBI, cubes)

  • Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word and Power Point

Desired Qualifications:
  • High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong organization skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple ongoing work streams

  • Proactive problem solver, expected to present problems and recommendations simultaneously

  • Highly motivated self-directed individual who can follow through and work with minimal direction or supervision

  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of accounting and finance principles, practices, and procedures to complete moderately complex assignments

  • Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft FMIS, Power Plant, etc.) and query tool (Business Objects)

  • Proficient using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Power Point

  • Masters in Accounting or MBA

  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA)

Working Conditions:
  • Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.

  • Must have 3+ years (6+ desired) of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree

  • Years of prior equivalent work related experience in lieu of a degree is N/A unless grandfathered in and requires CFO Staff approval.
