The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for an Electronic Technician B, Alarms (Telecommunications Outside Plant Infrastructure) to support our government customer located in Kekaha, Kauai.

Independently or under minimum supervision is able to troubleshoot, repair, inspect, overhaul, modify, calibrate, install, operate fire alarm, Intrusion Detection Systems, and Access Control Systems.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs periodic inspections and maintenance tasks in accordance with published procedures and/or OEM guidelines. Document results of all installation, maintenance and equipment records.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs systems/equipment by reading and interpreting electronic/mechanical schematics and using simple and complex test equipment.
  • Installs, checks, calibrates and performs acceptance tests on newly installed or relocated alarm and data systems and equipment.
  • Prepares and submits periodic reports.
  • Maintains configuration control documentation on assigned systems.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Environment:

Shop and customer's offices and outside work environment at various locations throughout PMRF and its operating sites.

Office conditions are varied and includes physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over 25-50 pounds, with a two man assist. Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time, crawling, kneeling, or cramped working places and work requiring repeated or frequent stair climbing. Environment will include customer contact, extended workdays, in a confined work area of an office laboratory setting, with field assignments, sometimes in inclement weather.

Physical Activities:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, install and remove electronics equipment, peripherals and cable reels.
  • May be required to climb elevated towers and work in sub-floor areas and crawl spaces in performing maintenance inspections and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Must be able to enter and perform maintenance duties in the hand holes, manholes and vaults throughout PMRF and its operating locations.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Satisfactory completion of a 2 Year Technical School or Navy "A" school or recognized correspondence is required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience is required in the related field with emphasis in communications, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience being in the specific field of assignment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance/installation procedures for IDS and Access Control systems.
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures for various fire alarm systems, which should include Honeywell, Fire-Lite, FCI, Edwards and others.
  • Willing to pursue a NICET Level 1 certification within 180 days.
  • Knowledge on basic computer networks and devices, data circuits and fiber optic cable installation and repair.
  • Must be capable of reading and interpreting mechanical and electronic schematics, manuals and blueprints.
  • Must be capable of performing all tasks of lower-rated technicians in operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Must be capable of assisting in the development and revision of operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Must be able to perform all tasks in accordance with verbal and written instructions to the established standards.
  • Must possess the following PC skills: MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)
