Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Digital Media Specialist at UL Standards & Engagement. This is a hybrid opportunity based in our Washington, DC office.

The Senior Digital Media Specialist will support and strengthen the organization's digital presence through effective social and paid media engagement to advance the mission of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) to make the world safer, more secure, and sustainable. The Senior Digital Media Specialist will represent the organization's voice across priority digital channels, helping to grow, inspire, and engage our global community. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Senior Digital Media Specialist will translate complex, standards-driven technical content into compelling, platform appropriate digital narratives.

What you'll learn and achieve:

As the Senior Digital Media Specialist, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Manage strategic initiatives projects and related programs, identifying opportunities to engage key stakeholders effectively. Use data-driven insights to inform strategy, define objectives, set measurable outcomes and establish targets aligned with organizational goals.

  • Conceptualize and lead the execution of organic and paid social strategies and integrated campaigns that align with ULSE's overarching advocacy and safety goals in collaboration with the Digital Strategy Manager and key members of the Communications team.

  • Drive growth and engagement across all organic social channels by managing the daily content calendar and developing strategies for follower acquisition.

  • Architect and manage sophisticated paid digital campaigns across Meta and LinkedIn. Serve as the primary liaison for our programmatic and Google Ads vendors, to guide alignment and campaign success.

  • Partner directly with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and leadership to develop high-level thought leadership content, ghostwriting sophisticated social posts that amplify our influence in the standards and safety space.

  • Film on-site at events to capture real-time footage for social stories and posts. Partner with in-house design team for high-production or more complex video projects.

  • Manage the creation of brand-consistent visuals, either through collaboration with our design team or using pre-built templates for simple posts.

  • Manage digital advertising budget, provide data-driven insights and monthly reports that connect social performance to organizational impact.

  • Lead influencer collaborations and partner amplification efforts; serve as the primary liaison for our external agency vendors to guide alignment and campaign success.

  • Serve as the guardian of the ULSE brand voice, ensuring consistency, professional tone, and mission-alignment across all digital touchpoints.

  • Maintain continued awareness of industry trends and external context, offering insight to inform strategic decisions and direction of the standards development function.

  • Solve complex issues and take initiative for defining continuous improvement solutions, and apply strong problem-solving skills escalating issues when necessary.

  • Manage and complete processes and projects independently.

  • Contribute to department initiatives as needed.

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of social and paid media platforms, digital audience engagement and translating complex technical or policy content into credible, high impact digital narratives.

  • Exceptional copywriting skills with the ability to pivot voice and tone based on the platform, audience, and strategic goal.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, managing projects from initial concept through to final execution.

  • Project management skills, including developing project timelines, scope management, and managing project resources with ability to execute end-to-end processes or projects.

  • Strong communication and engagement skills, with ability to effectively organize, communicate and present information to multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills ability to foster collaboration and partnership with cross-functional teams to develop solutions with broad impact.

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience.

  • Mastery of social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Meta Ads Manager, X Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager) and some familiarity with Programmatic Demand-Side Platforms (DSPs)

  • Experience working with external ad vendors is preferred.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Premiere Pro) is preferred

Salary Range:

$74,051.25-$101,820.46
