Business Intelligence Analyst - ISMD - Healthcare Applications


Full-Time, Salary


Salary Pay Range: $74,796.80 - $112,195.20


Job Summary: The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst - Healthcare Applications plays a critical role in supporting healthcare operations by building forms, reports, and widgets within vendor-hosted Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. This position emphasizes collaboration with change requesters from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), ensuring clear communication and understanding of requirements. The BI Analyst is responsible for tracking and commenting on work progress, maintaining transparency throughout the development cycle. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential for success in this role.


Job Responsibilities:



  • Complete complex healthcare-related report requests, including interviewing requestors, understanding goals, performing data queries, analyzing and summarizing data, and presenting results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Utilizes programming tools to assist in data extraction from multiple data sources and transformation to support creating usable and reportable formats for final presentation and to make reporting more efficient and timelier.
  • Determine appropriate analysis techniques to present data addressing healthcare reporting goals/questions.
  • Create queries, data forms, and reports for healthcare reporting applications.
  • Enhance reporting tools using SQL and ensure data integrity through quality assurance processes.
  • Mentor and train end users and Analysts in healthcare data processes, structures, and validation steps.
  • Work within a vendor-hosted Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to build forms, reports, and widgets
  • Update Jira ticketing system and maintain clear communication with requesters regarding status and requirements.
  • Apply project management skills to healthcare-related projects, ensuring timely completion of tasks and communication.
  • Participates in other departmental project activities and tasks to ensure successful completion of project, data collection, data management, communication, and data reporting.
  • Complete all tasks required for the position, as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.


Minimum Requirements:



  • Current resident of the State of WI.


  • Associate's degree or above in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science/MIS, Engineering
  • Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Intermediate knowledge of how business intelligence reporting solutions fit within an enterprise data model and within data architecture.
  • At least one (1) years' experience in:

    • Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW)
    • Speaking to technical people in this industry and understanding what a Data Warehousing application is supposed to look and function like
    • Understanding how the Star Schema works, what a fact table and data dimension is and how they relate.
    • Business Intelligence Analyst role and delivering data processes and products that drive organizational decision-making.


  • Proficient in SQL language.


Additional/Preferred Skills:




  • SQL knowledge and Crystal Reports experience.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Prior governmental experience and familiarity with healthcare stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Java for web services.
  • Proven analytical, critical thinking, attention to details, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet, reporting, and database tools (e.g., Excel, Access, other Microsoft Office applications).
  • Ability to multi-task and move between tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Time management skills.
  • Proven aptitude and interest in working with complex situations/problems, systems, and processes.
  • Ability to work independently and within teams.
  • Flexibility to meet organizational and departmental demands.
