Position Overview Power Solutions Group is seeking Field Service Engineers with electrical and/or mechanical aptitude who enjoy solving complex problems, working independently, and delivering exceptional customer service. This role offers significant variety, autonomy, and hands-on experience with power distribution systems across the Northeast. What You'll Do
- Lead on-site maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical power distribution equipment.
- Perform protective relay testing independently or as part of a team.
- Manage engineering projects ranging from small assignments to large-scale customer initiatives.
- Apply engineering principles, codes, and standards to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical systems.
- Provide technical support, quality control, and documentation for assigned projects.
- Read and interpret power system wiring diagrams, including DC elementary drawings.
- Adhere to all electrical safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
- Demonstrate strong theoretical understanding of electricity and practical problem-solving skills.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, peers, and leadership.
- Coordinate work at customer sites and resolve issues as they arise.
- Deliver excellent customer service, follow-up, and time management.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight travel.
- Associate degree or higher in a related field-or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze electrical drawings and schematics.
- Working knowledge of electrical power distribution, short-circuit analysis, coordination, and arc-flash hazards (NFPA 70E) is a plus.
- Experience testing electromechanical or digital protective relays is highly desirable.
- AutoCAD experience is beneficial.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong organizational, logistical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- NETA Level II certification or higher.
- Familiarity with NETA acceptance and maintenance testing procedures is a plus.
- Experience with protective relaying applications and field testing.
- Prior field service or power systems engineering experience.
