The Team Leader, New Business must be a professional leader that is organized, dependable, and purposeful. This position will lead a team of New Business Specialists and Project Managers that create value for the organization by meeting performance objectives, goals, and KPIs. Must have a pragmatic approach to problem solving while also thinking broader to seek new ways of doing things and seeking improvements. The Team Leader, New Business has varying responsibilities for leading, directing, developing, and coaching the New Business Specialists and Project Managers to deliver a consistent, high quality, customer experience. Interfaces with Engineering, Planning & Scheduling, Construction, Operations, and other work groups to ensure resources are available to meet commitments to our customers. Key results include but are not limited to profitable new customer acquisitions and revenue growth aligned with growing capital budgets and enhancing customer satisfaction ratings through a variety of survey tools.
Essential Functions
Leads a team of New Business Specialists and Project Managers. Effectively prioritizes work and resources for the team to meet project milestones. Forecasts annual New Business customer acquisitions and customer requested work volumes. Works closely with New Business, Scheduling, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Warehousing to anticipate requirements necessary to meet customer expectations and the business plan. Ensures team is compliant in all project management requirements including economic evaluation, capital authorization, and contract execution. Assists Regulatory and Legal with commission complaint resolution and data request responses as part of rate case and other procedural filings. Provides feedback to management regarding operating results, including recommendations on findings. Keeps abreast of business and market trends that may affect the business/department. Defines and participates in the achievement of short and long-term business objectives. Promotes the necessary environment for exceptional internal customer satisfaction and collaboration. Works with Human Resources, Recruiting, and Training to coordinate the hiring and training of new employee resources. Coaches, develops, and motivates New Business Specialists and Project Managers to ensure the highest individual and collective performance. Represents NiSource in the communities we serve and within the organizations New Business supports. Completes other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications For Position
Five (5) to six (6) years of experience in new business development and utility operations. Experience with leading teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills. Advanced proficiency in Office 365 Strong verbal and people skills Ability to manage priorities in a challenging environment. Goal and results oriented. Strong mathematical, analytical, and technical skills. Advanced proficiency in NiSource's work management systems and customer relationship management solutions.
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
Prior experience with utility operations. New Business operations experience, including but not limited to the understanding of call drivers, performance metrics, and statistical analysis. New Business project management subject matter expert.

Salary Range*: $96,600.00 - $144,900.00
*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity. Posting Start Date: 2026-02-17
