This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at La Jolla and remote. Established in 1978 at the UC San Diego Medical Center, the Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) combines the benefits of an internationally renowned university with a large academic hospital. The UC San Diego Medical Center and the DEM is leading an effort, funded by the Federal Office of the National Coordinator, to foster data exchange, interoperability, and clinical integration to improve healthcare efficiency and patient outcomes among San Diego County community healthcare providers. Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced IT research professional. Uses computational, computer science, data science, and CI software research and development principles, with relevant domain science knowledge where applicable, along with professional programming concepts for medium-sized projects or portions of larger projects. Develops and optimizes a variety of computational, data science, and CI research tools and components. Performs research on current and future HPC, data, and CI technologies, hardware and software projects. Works on algorithm development, optimization, programming, performance analysis and / or benchmarking assignments of moderate scope where the tasks involve knowledge of either domain / computer science research requirements and / or CI design / implementation requirements. Under general supervision, this position will be responsible for executing complex data science, data visualization, software development, backend infrastructure development, and data analysis/heuristics tasks related to a prototype system funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) designed to assess and monitor the availability of critical connected infrastructure. Responsibilities include continuous iteration and cleaning of source data set, development and utilization of new digital signal categories, refinement of database architecture, directing development of dashboard UI, communicating importance of work to stakeholders, and guiding development of future iterations of the prototype technology stack. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $97,200 - $182,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $46.55 - $87.16 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). | |
